TO REDUCE INTER-GENERATIONAL POVERTY BY PROMOTING STRATEGIES THAT ENCOURAGE RACIAL AND ECONOMIC DIVERSITY IN THE HOUSING MARKET, PRIMARILY IN THE CHICAGO AREA AND NATIONALLY AS WELL.

HCP IS CONTRACTED BY THE CHICAGO HOUSING AUTHORITY TO ADMINISTER THE MOBILITY COUNSELING PROGRAM FOR HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PARTICIPANTS. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES PROVIDING HOUSEHOLD-LEVEL CASE MANAGEMENT, INFORMATION, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT SO THAT PARTICIPANTS MAY KNOW THEIR FULL RANGE OF HOUSING CHOICES AND IDENTIFY AND OVERCOME BARRIERS TO MOVING TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN WHICH THEY WISH TO LIVE. HCP PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO APPROXIMATELY 1,200 HOUSEHOLDS.


IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF COOK COUNTY AND OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS, HCP PROVIDES HOUSING SEARCH AND RELOCATION ASSISTANCE TO HOUSEHOLDS IN SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY THAT ARE CURRENTLY OR AT-RISK OF BECOMING UNHOUSED. HCP ASSISTED 230 HOUSEHOLDS WITH RENTING AN AFFORDABLE UNIT WITH A HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER IN SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY.


THE RENTAL HOUSING SUPPORT PROGRAM PROVIDES RENTAL ASSISTANCE SUBSIDIES TO LANDLORDS IN ORDER TO MAKE RENTAL HOUSING AFFORDABLE TO EXTREMELY LOW- INCOME PEOPLE IN SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM ALOS PROVIDES DEEPLY SUBSDIZED HOUSING FOR INDIVIDUALS RETURNING FROM INCARCERATION IN COOK COUTY. HCP PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO 90 HOUSEHOLDS, A TOTAL OF 179 INDIVIDUALS, AND PARTNERED WITH 52 LANDLORDS IN SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY.


THE FAIR HOUSING EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAM IS FUNDED THROUGH THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, INFORMATION, AND RESOURCES TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, INCLUDING RENTERS, LANDLORDS, REAL ESTATE AGENTS, AND ELECTED OFFICIALS, ON FAIR HOUSING DISCRIMINATION, RIGHTS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES. THE PROGRAM SERVES TO PROMOTE FAIR HOUSING LAWS AND EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY AWARENESS. HCP PROVIDED FAIR HOUSING EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE TO 574 INDIVIDUALS.
