THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY MISSION IS: A) TO SEEK WITHIN THE DISTRICT AND THROUGH THE CLUBS OF THE DISTRICT HAS THE ATTAINMENT OF THE OBJECTS OF KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL AS SET FORTH IN THE CONSTITUTION. B) TO INCREASE THE FELLOWSHIP AND COOPERATIVE EFFORT OF THE CLUBS WITHIN THE DISTRICT. C) TO COOPERATE WITH KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL IN BUILDING NEW CLUBS AND MEMBERSHIP IN EXISTING CLUBS, EDUCATING CLUB MEMBERS, AND STRENGTHENING CLUB SERVICES WITHIN THE DISTRICT. D) TO PROMOTE PARTICIPATION OF CLUBS IN THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES, PROGRAMS, AND POLICIES OF THE DISTRICT.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND CONVENTIONS - DISTRICT CONVENTION IS THE ANNUAL BUSINESS SESSION WHERE THE ELECTION OF INCOMING OFFICERS TAKE PLACE AND VOTE ON BY-LAW AMENDMENTS (IF ANY). THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT EDUCATION SESSIONS HELD FOR THE MEMBERS, PRESENTATION OF AWARDS, AND A BOARD MEETING. THE ORGANIZATION HAS BOARD MEETINGS TWICE A YEAR. EACH MEETING IS WHERE THE BOARD MEETS FOR APPROXIMATELY 6-8 HOURS DURING THE WEEKEND AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TIME IS SPENT ON SOCIAL EVENTS AND TEAM BUILDING.
THE ILLEIOWAN IS THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE IL-EASTERN IOWA DISTRICT OF KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL. THE ILLEIOWAN IS PUBLISHED SIX TIMES A YEAR AND SHOWCASES STORIES OF OUR CLUBS AND THE CLUB MEMBERS WHO ARE WORKING TO SERVE THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD. THIS IS AN ON-GOING PROGRAM AND SERVES APPROXIMATELY 6,400.
TRAINING PROGRAMS - THESE EDUCATION SESSIONS ARE FOR THE INCOMING OFFICERS TAKING OFFICE ON OCTOBER 1ST. THESE SESSIONS ARE HELD SEVERAL MONTHS IN ADVANCE SO THE INCOMING OFFICERS CAN PLAN AND BE PREPARED. THESE SESSIONS ARE FOCUSED ON DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB, TAX AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS, REPORTING, TEAM BUILDING, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, MEMBERSHIP GROWTH, NEW CLUB BUILDING, COMMUNITY AND YOUTH SERVICE, AND EDUCATION ABOUT THE VARIOUS YOUTH PROGRAMS.
