(ISA) SPONSORS PROGRAMS FOR SOYBEAN PROMOTION, RESEARCH CONSUMER INFORMATION, INDUSTRY INFORMATION AND PRODUCER COMMUNICATIONS UNDER THE FEDERAL SPARC ACT AND ORDER. ISA IS A QUALIFIED STATE SOYBEAN BOARD (QSSB) FOR THE STATE OF INDIANA. ISA ALSO SERVES THE ORGANIZATION'S MEMBERS ON POLICY ISSUES.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT HAS TWO STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES. THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE LIVESTOCK AND MEAT EXPORTS. ISA ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY INVESTING IN INITIATIVES THAT INCREASE RED MEAT AND POULTRY EXPORTS TO TARGETED COUNTRIES. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE MARKET PREFERENCE AND NUMBER OF EXPORTS FOR US SOYBEANS AND SOYBEAN PRODUCTS. THE INITIATIVES IN THIS OBJECTIVE ARE TO INCREASE EXPORTS IN TARGETED COUNTRIES, INVEST IN FEED TRIALS, UTILIZE INDUSTRY PARTNERS TO INCREASE BIODIESEL DEMAND AND TO PROMOTE CHECKOFF SUCCESS OF THESE PROGRAM EFFORTS TO DECISION MAKERS.
SUSTAINABILITY HAS THREE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES. THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO CONTINUE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF ACRES IN INDIANA UTILIZING ENVIRONMENTALLY AND ECONOMICALLY SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION PRACTICES BY TARGETING MEETING NUTRIENT LOSS REDUCTION GOALS IN INDIANA. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF AGRICULTURE AND ITS ECONOMIC VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY. ISA LOOKS TO DO THIS BY USING PARTNERS TO AMPLIFY MESSAGES AND CONVEYING CHECKOFF SUCCESS AND THE ECONOMIC VALUE OF AGRICULTURE TO DECISION MAKERS. THE THIRD OBJECTIVE IS TO SUPPORT EFFORTS THAT REDUCE PRODUCTION AND INPUT COSTS AND IMPROVE ON-FARM PROFITABILITY. THE INITIATIVES UNDER THIS OBJECTIVE ARE IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE ON-FARM PROFITABILITY AND SEEK NON-TRADITIONAL VALUE GENERATION.
VALUE CREATION HAS THREE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES. THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS THE INVESTMENT IN GROWTH OF HIGH-OLEIC SOYBEAN OIL FOODS AND PRODUCTS WHICH ADD VALUE TO THE SOYBEANS GROWN IN INDIANA. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO SUPPORT RESEARCH FOR DEVELOPING FOOD PRODUCTS THAT INCREASE THE VALUE OF SOYBEAN PRODUCTS. THE THIRD OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP NEW INDUSTRIAL USES FOR SOYBEAN PRODUCTS, WITH A FOCUS ON PETROLEUM REPLACEMENTS.
PRODUCER ENGAGEMENT HAS TWO OBJECTIVES. THE BACKBONE OF THIS OBJECTIVE IS PROVIDING INFORMATION TO THE INDIANA PRODUCERS WE SERVE. THE FIRST OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHECKOFF PROGRAMS AND THE RETURN ON INVESTMENT BY ALL INDIANA SOYBEAN FARMERS. THE SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO INCREASE PRODUCER PARTICIPATION IN ISA PROGRAMS (I.E. ON-FARM PROGRAMS, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL, ETC.)IN ADDITION TO THE FOUR STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES A SUCCESSFUL ORGANIZATION MUST INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE (PERSONNEL, MARKETING, AND TECHNOLOGY), ESTABLISH SOUND FISCAL AND FIDUCIARY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, AND DEVELOP OUR BOARD MEMBERS TO BE LEADERS WITHIN INDIANA AGRICULTURE AND WITH NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS. ORGANIZATION, BOARD MANAGEMENT AND GENERAL MARKETING CONTAINS EXPENSES FOR BOARD MEETINGS, LEADERSHIP AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, BASE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR MARKETING EFFORTS, AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT OF THE BOARD.SPARC ADMINISTRATION ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH THE SPARC ACT AND ORDER AND THE GOVERNANCE OF ISA. INCLUDED IN THESE ACTIVITIES ARE BOARD ELECTIONS AND INVESTMENTS IN PROCESSES FOR REMITTANCES FROM FIRST PURCHASERS OF SOYBEANS IN INDIANA AND THE PERIODIC AUDITING OF THOSE FIRST PURCHASERS.
