WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT IDENTIFIES ISSUES AND ADVOCATES EFFECTIVE POLICIES AND ACTIONS THAT PROTECT, RESTORE, AND SUSTAIN THE WATER RESOURCES OF THE FOX-WOLF RIVER BASIN.

RESEARCH - FWWA RELIES ON SOUND SCIENCE TO ADVANCE ALL OF OUR RECOVERY AND OUTREACH & EDUCATION EFFORTS. THROUGH A GLRI GRANT AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UWGB, WE CONDUCTED RESEARCH OF OUR OWN. A PAIRED WATERSHED STUDY IN THE PLUM CREEK WATERSHED WILL HELP GUIDE STRATEGIC AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTATION THROUGHOUT THE REGION. RESEARCH ON TREATMENT WETLANDS IS EXAMINING A POTENTIAL SOLUTION FOR TREATING DISSOLVED PHOSPHORUS FROM DRAINTILE.
WATERSHED RECOVERY - FWWA IS WORKING TOWARDS TOWARDS COST-EFFECTIVE, WATERSHED-BASED STRATEGY FOR IMPROVING WATER QUALITY. FWWA WORKED WITH PROJECT PARTNERS IN THE PLUM AND KANKAPOT CREEK WATERSHEDS IN THE LOWER FOX RIVER TO REDUCE AGRICUTURAL SEDIMENT AND NUTRIENT LOADING BY INSTALLING CONSERVATION PRACTICES IN KEY SECTIONS OF THE WTERSHED. THIS PROJECT WILL TEST INNOVATIVE PRACTICES AND MONITOR THE EFFECTS OF THOSE PRACTICES TO GUIDE IMPLEMENTATION THROUGHOUT THE REGION. FWWA IS EXPANDING OUR RECOVERY EFFORTS INTO THE WINNEBAGO WATERWAYS AND INTO THE WOLF RIVER WATERSHED.
OUTREACH & EDUCATION - PROVIDING TRAINING AND EDUCATION TO HOME OWNERS, TEACHERS, BUILDERS / DEVELOPERS, BUSINESSES, MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES & OFFICIALS THROUGHOUT NORTHEAST WISCONSIN THROUGH TRAINING PROGRAMS, EXHIBITING EFFORTS, AN ANNUAL WATERSHED CLEANUP EVENT, WEBSITE UPDATES, AND EDUCATIONAL SIGNAGE AND FLYERS. TRAINING IS FOCUSED ON WHAT EACH INDIVIDUAL CAN DO AT HOME / SCHOOL / WORK TO PROTECT AND RESTORE LOCAL WATERS. NEWSC I&E EFFORTS TARGETED AT HOME OWNERS, BUILDERS / DEVELOPERS, INDUSTRY, MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES AND OFFICIALS. ADDITIONALLY FWWA SENDS OUT A MONTHLY E-NEWLETTER THAT REACHES OVER 3,000 PEOPLE WITH UPDATES ON BASIN-WIDE EFFORTS TOWARD WATERSHED RECOVERY.
