UNITED WAY OF DEKALB COUNTY, INC. IS A FUNDING ORGANIZATION WHOSE VISION IS TO ENABLE PEOPLE TO WORK TOGETHER CREATING A THRIVING AND VIBRANT COMMUNITY FOR ALL. UNITED WAY'S MISSION IS TO FIGHT FOR THE HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND FINANCIAL STABILITY FOR EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED IN 1960 AND IS GOVERNED BY A VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS WITH THE INPUT OF ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS AT A COMMITTEE LEVEL. THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERS WITH LOCAL NON-PROFITS TO HELP FUND THEIR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS.

DONOR AND GRANT DOLLARS ARE USED TO HELP CREATE A BETTER COMMUNITY BY SUPPORTING PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ON EDUCATION, HEALTH, AND FINANCIAL STABILITY. UNITED WAY WORKS CLOSELY WITH HUMAN SERVICE AGENCIES THAT ALIGN WITH THESE FOCUS AREAS. UNITED WAY OF DEKALB COUNTY PARTNERS WITH SINGLECARE (FORMERLY FAMILYWIZE) TO PROVIDE PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNTS TO DEKALB COUNTY RESIDENTS. DURING THE 2022 DAY OF CARING, 45 SERVICE PROJECTS WERE COMPLETED WITH THE HELP OF APPROXIMATELY 580 VOLUNTEERS. THE UNITED WAY OF DEKALB COUNTY DEVELOPED AND FUNDS KINDERGARTEN COUNTDOWN CAMP FOR 80 AT-RISK CHILDREN ENTERING KINDERGARTEN. THE UNITED WAY OF DEKALB COUNTY HOSTS THE POWER OF THE PURSE FUNDRAISER ONCE A YEAR TO RAISE MONEY FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS FOCUSED ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
