TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY FACILITIES FOR NECESSITIES OF LIFE AND FOR RE-ENTRY AS A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY, FOR BOTH THE HOMELESS FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN AND ADULTS.

PROVIDE EMERGENCY SHELTER, MEALS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH REFERRAL ASSISTANCE TO HOMELESS OR AT RISK OF BECOMING HOMELESS, FAMILIES WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN AND A LIMITED NUMBER OF SINGLE INDIVIDUALS. REFERRALS TO APPROPRIATE AGENCIES ARE PROVIDED.DURING THE YEAR 223 PERSONS WERE SHELTERED. THE AVERAGE STAY WAS 45 DAYS. 41 % OF THE PERSONS LEFT WITH AN INCOME; 87% LEFT FOR PERMANENT HOUSING; 66% WERE FROM THIS AREA; 76% WERE HOMELESS FOR THE FIRST TIME. WE ALSO SERVED 34,068 MEALS AT THE SHELTER, AN AVERAGE OF 2,839 MEALS A MONTH; THESE INCLUDED PERSONS FROM THE COMMUNITY WHO UTILIZE OUR EVENING SOUP KITCHEN AS WELL AS OUR RESIDENTS. WE EXPANDED OUR FULL-TIME STAFF TO THREE IN THE STREET OUTREACH/NAVIGATION PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM SERVICES CHRONICALLY AND DISABLED HOMELESS ON THE STREETS OF THE HEMET VALLEY WHO ARE NOT READY TO ENTER THE SHELTER, BUT ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING OFF THE STREETS. THERE WERE 130 PERSONS CONTACTED, OF THOSE, 30 PERSONS WERE HOUSED, AND 58 REMAIN ACTIVE. HOUSING PLACEMENT THROUGH THIS REQUIRES INTENSIVE VERIFICATION DOCUMENTATION.VALLEY RESTART HAS BEEN AN INTERN PRACTICUM PLACEMENT SITE FOR BOTH BACHELOR AND MASTER' LEVEL SOCIAL WORK AND HUMAN SERVICES DEGREES FROM VARIOUS UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES INCLUDING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST COLLEGE, RUTGERS UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX, ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT RIVERSIDE, UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AND CAL-STATE LOS ANGELES.
