LAWHELP DURING FY21-22, LAAC ALSO SUPPORTED A STATEWIDE RESOURCE AND REFERRAL WEBSITE FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE AND INFORMATION AT WWW.LAWHELPCA.ORG. LAAC STAFF TRAINED FRONT-LINE HELPERS ACROSS THE STATE ON HOW TO HELP PEOPLE IN CRISIS ACCESS LEGAL RESOURCES. THE PROGRAM GREW DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN RESPONSE TO PEOPLE FACING EMPLOYMENT AND HOUSING INSECURITY. IN THIS FISCAL YEAR, THE WORK FOCUSED NOT ONLY ON IMPROVING RESOURCES, BUT ALSO ON IMPROVING SITE FUNCTIONALITY FOR USERS ACCESSING THE SITE BY MOBILE DEVICE. STAFF ALSO RECRUITED VOLUNTEER LAW STUDENTS TO HELP CITE USERS FIND THE INFORMATION THEY NEEDED, AS PEOPLE IN LEGAL CRISIS OFTEN WANT A REAL PERSON (NOT A BOT) TO HELP THEM OUT, EVEN WHEN ACCESSING RESOURCES ONLINE.
