Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
BABY STEPS' CURRENT HOME IS LOCATED IN THE HISTORIC DISTRICT OF AUBURN, JUST A TEN MINUTE WALK FROM THE UNIVERSITY'S CAMPUS. THE FRONT HOUSE INCLUDES THREE BEDROOMS AND THREE BATHROOMS: SPACE FOR STUDENT-MOMS, BABIES, AND A RESIDENT ASSISTANT. THIS IS WHERE WE HOST COMMUNITY GATHERINGS SUCH AS OUR WEEKLY COMMUNITY DINNER. THE PROPERTY ALSO HOUSES SEVEN APARTMENTS IN THE BACK WHICH ARE AVAILABLE TO US IN THE FUTURE.
BECAUSE ONE OF THE GREATEST NEEDS AND STRESSORS OF STUDENT-MOMS IS CHILDCARE, THE TINY TIGER DAYCARE SCHOLARSHIP IS A FUND THAT ENABLES OUR RESIDENT STUDENT-MOMS TO PLACE THEIR CHILDREN IN AUBURN'S TOP CHILDCARE FACILITIES AT NO COST TO THEM WHILE THEY CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION.
WE UNDERSTAND HOW DIFFICULT IT IS FOR STUDENT-MOMS TO BALANCE ALL OF THEIR ROLES. WHETHER THEY ARE 13 WEEKS PREGNANT OR WATCHING THEIR BABIES TAKE THEIR FIRST STEPS, WE HAVE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING UP TO 10 COUNSELING SESSIONS FOR EVERY ONE OF OUR RESIDENT STUDENT-MOMS. WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH A COUPLE OF HIGHLY RECOMMENDED COUNSELORS AND THERAPISTS WHO ARE AS PASSIONATE AS WE ARE ABOUT GIVING STUDENT-MOMS THE TOOLS TO EASE THEIR TRANSITIONS AND EQUIP THEM FOR ALL THAT IS TO COME IN THEIR BRIGHT FUTURES. EMERGENCY MEDICAL IS INCLUDED IN THIS IN ORDER TO ACCOMODATE MOMS AND BABIES IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH REQUIRE EXTRA MEDICAL CARE FOR EMERGENCIES. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS ARE EVENTS, CLASSES, AND RESOURCES FOR STUDENT-MOMS IN ORDER TO EQUIP THEM FOR PRESENT AND FUTURE PARENTING CHALLENGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO BUDGETING, NUTRITION, AND FINANCES.
MISCELLANEOUS OTHER ACTIVITIES TO EMPOWER PREGNANT AND PARENTING STUDENTS EXPERIENCING UNPLANNED PREGNANCY AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY TO HAVE THEIR EDUCATION AND THEIR BABY.
