NAMI FC FAMILY-TO-FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM IS A FREE, 12-WEEK COURSE FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS. THE COURSE IS TAUGHT BY TRAINED FAMILY MEMBERS. ALL INSTRUCTION AND COURSE MATERIALS ARE FREE TO CLASS PARTICIPANTS.
FAMILY CONNECTIONS IS A 12-WEEK CLASS FOR PARENTS, FAMILIES, FRIENDS, SPOUSES, AND CHILDREN OF SOMEONE WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER (BPD). THIS COURSE WORKS TO HELP PARTICIPANTS IN OBTAINING THE LATEST KNOWLEDGE AND RESEARCH INFORMATION, AS WELL AS COPING SKILLS FOR THEIR OWN WELL-BEING. IT DOES NOT TEACH INDIVIDUALS HOW TO HELP THEIR LOVED ONES AS THIS CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED THROUGH INDIVIDUAL THERAPY AND DBT SKILLS. FIRST CLASS WAS HELD AT NAMI OHIO.
NAMI BASICS IS A NEW SIGNATURE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PARENTS AND OTHER CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. NAMI FRANKLIN COUNTY REPLACED HAND-TO-HAND WITH NAMI BASICS IN 2009. THE NAMI BASICS COURSE IS TAUGHT BY TRAINED TEACHERS WHO ARE THE PARENT OR OTHER CAREGIVERS OF INDIVIDUALS WHO DEVELOPED THE SYMPTOMS OF MENTAL ILLNESS PRIOR TO THE AGE OF 13 YEARS. THIS IS A NEW AND REVISED PROGRAM.
