RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES CREATE OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD A STRONGER COMMUNITY FOCUSED ON SUPPORTING THOSE IN AND SEEKING RECOVERY. BY BUILDING A SOLID COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT, EACH MEMBER OF SOCIETY FEELS VALUED AND EMPOWERED TO GIVE BACK. WHEN A COMMUNITY SUPPORTS A CULTURE OF RECOVERY, IT IS REFLECTED IN ALL SECTORS OF SOCIETY. WHEN INDIVIDUALS ARE SUPPORTED BY THE MEMBERS OF THEIR SOCIETY, WE ALL REAP THE BENEFITS OF THEIR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN MAKING OUR WORLD A BETTER PLACE.


OCAAR OFFERS EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS ON ADDICTION AND RECOVERY TAILORED TO A VARIETY OF GROUPS, INCLUDING CERTIFIED PEER RECOVERY SUPPORTERS, CLINICAL PROFESSIONALS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. THE MORE OPPORTUNITIES OHIOANS HAVE TO LEARN FACTS ABOUT THIS CHRONIC DISEASE, THEN THE NEGATIVE MISCONCEPTIONS AND MISPERCEPTIONS CAN BE CHALLENGED TO CHANGE. OCAAR IS AN ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION THAT IS FOCUSED ON EMPOWERING OHIOANS WITH SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER TO ADVOCATE ON THEIR OWN BEHALF AND ON BEHALF OF THEIR COMMUNITIES TO CREATE STATEWIDE AND NATIONAL CHANGE IN POLICY REGARDING HOW ADDICTION AND RECOVERY IS ADDRESSED. THE PURPOSE OF THESE SERVICES IS TO PREPARE OHIOANS WITH THE SKILLS AND TOOLS NECESSARY TO BE AN EFFECTIVE ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES. THIS WILL ACCOMPLISH CHANGING SOCIETAL PERCEPTIONS AND ALLOW FOR A VOICE TO THE CURRENT POLICY DECISION STRUCTURE.
