TO ENHANCE THE LIVES OF CLARK COUNTY OLDER ADULTS BY OFFERING QUALITY SERVICES THAT PROMOTE GENERAL WELL-BEING, INDEPENDENT LIVING AND SOCIALIZATION.

EDUCATION AND SOCIALIZATION PROGRAMS FOR OLDER ADULTS PROMOTE GENERAL WELL-BEING AND INDEPENDENT LIVING. OVER 26,000 CHECK INS AND CLIENTS PARTICIPATED IN OUR PROGRAMS, EVENTS, ACTIVITIES, CLASSES, TRIPS AND TOURS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE OLDER ADULTS TO LIVE ACTIVE, INVOLVED AND INDEPENDENT LIVES. WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE VIRTUAL CLASSES AND SUPPORT WHILE OUR CENTER REMAINED CLOSED DURING THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2021. 19 INSTRUCTORS PROVIDED MORE THAN 200 ORIGINAL PROGRAMS LAST YEAR VIA ZOOM, WITH NEARLY 2,500 MEMBERS PARTICIPATING IN MORE THAN 150 HOURS OF LIVE PROGRAMMING AND ANOTHER 500+ HOURS OF VIEWING TIME ON YOUTUBE. WE COORDINATE AND MONITOR OVER 374 VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDED MORE THAN 34,100 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES TO AGENCIES AND NONPROFITS IN THE COUNTY. WE PUBLISHED 12 NEWSLETTERS IN ADDITION TO OUR E-NEWSLETTER AND SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS TO KEEP OUR CONSUMERS INFORMED ON EVENTS AND THE PANDEMIC.
NUTRITION SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS PROVIDES HOT AND COLD MEALS AT THREE CONGREGATE SITES THROUGHOUT CLARK COUNTY, AND TO PEOPLE IN THEIR HOMES. 120,286 TOTAL MEALS WERE SERVED TO 1,487 OLDER ADULTS.
IN-HOME SERVICES GIVE SUPPORT TO OLDER ADULTS SO THEY CAN LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN OUR COMMUNITY. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE 69,084 MILES OF TRANSPORTATION, 12,080 HOURS OF HOMEMAKER, PERSONAL CARE AND RESPITE SERVICE, CHORE, MEDICARE ASSISTANCE, BILL PAYER, LEGAL, HEAP, HOME REPAIR AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE.
MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS AND SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS PROVIDES ASSISTANCE IN PREVENTING DEPRESSION AND ISOLATION DUE TO ISSUES RELATED TO AGING. WE SERVED 395 OLDER ADULTS THROUGH SOCIAL RECREATION, GATEKEEPER, GUARDIANSHIP, OUTREACH, TELEPHONE REASSURANCE AND FRIENDLY VISITING. WE COLLABORATE WITH PROFESSIONALS FROM MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES OF CLARK CO. TO PROVIDE PSYCHIATRIC CARE COUNSELING, AND REFER CLIENTS TO OUR AGENCY FOR SUPERVISED RECREATION AND SOCIALIZATION. THIS TYPE OF PROGRAM HAS PROVEN TO BE A NON-THREATENING APPROACH TO GETTING OLDER ADULTS TO ACCESS MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.
