ADMINISTERS GRANTS AND PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO FALL BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
HEAD START PROGRAM: THE AGENCY ADMINISTERS A HEAD START PROGRAM THAT SERVES 148 CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM ENABLES FAMILIES TO ENROLL THEIR CHILDREN IN THE PROGRAM TO GET A "HEAD START" ON LEARNING TO HELP PREPARE THEM FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL. THE EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM TARGETS INFANTS AND TODDLERS WITH SERVICES NECESSARY TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE REGULAR HEAD START PROGRAM.
HOMELESSNESS PROGRAM: TO PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICE TO FAMILIES IN THE AFTERMATH OF FINANCIAL, EMOTIONAL, OR VIOLENT DISRUPTION IN THEIR LIVES THAT LEAD TO THEIR HOMELESSNESS AND TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE EMOTIONAL, FINANCIAL, AND EDUCATION RESOURCES NECESSARY TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE, SELF-SUFFICIENT MEMBERS OF SOCIETY.
TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM: THE AGENCY OPERATES A RURAL TRANSIT SYSTEM. THE PROGRAM TAKES INDIVIDUALS TO AND FROM WORK TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND OTHER SERVICES NEEDED BY COUNTY RESIDENTS.
OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: THE OHIO BENEFIT BANK, WHICH IS A COUNSELOR ASSISTED SERVICE THAT CONNECTS LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES TO TAX CREDIT AND WORK SUPPORTS. THE NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVER PROGRAM, WHICH OFFERS ONE TIME ASSISTANCE WITH RESPITECARE AND SUPPLEMENTAL SERVICES SUCH AS PURCHASING MEDICATION, HOUSE AND RENT PAYMENTS, UTILITY BILLS, FOOD AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, AND MUCH MORE DEPENDING ON THE APPLICANT'S NEEDS. THE SELF-HELP HOUSING PROGRAM, WHICH FACILITATES THE PRODUCTION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND THEDEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT FAYETTE AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES OF ROSS, GREENE, MADISON, CLINTON AND HIGHLAND IN OHIO.
