THE GREATER BANDON ASSOCIATION IS A CATALYTIC COMMUNITY BUILDING ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC VITALIZATION OF THE GREATER BANDON AREA WITH A FOCUS ON PRESERVING AND BUILDING UPON ITS HISTORICAL ASSETS AND CULTURE.

THE GREATER BANDON ASSOCIATION IS A COMMUNITY BUILDING ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THEECONOMIC VITALIZATION OF THE BANDON AREA WHILE PRESERVING ITS HISTORICAL ASSETS ANDCULTURE. DURING THIS PAST YEAR IT ACCOMPLISHED THIS THROUGH A VARIETY OF PROMOTIONALEVENTS, THROUGH ADMINISTERING A DIRECT GRANT TO REVITALIZE ONE OF THE COMMUNITYS OLDESTSTRUCTURES AND BY ASSISTING FLEDGLING COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION TO GROW AND DELIVER VITALSERVICES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY.THE PROMOTIONAL EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE ORGANIZATION CREATED OPPORTUNITIES FOR VISITORSTO THE AREA AND RESIDENTS ALIKE TO EXPERIENCE WHAT THE BANDON COMMUNITY HAD TO OFFER.FOR NEW BUSINESSES, IT PROVIDED A CHANCE TO SHOW THE GOODS AND SERVICES THAT THEY HADAVAILABLE. FOR EXISTING BUSINESSES, IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECONNECT AS WELL AS SHOWNEW PRODUCTS. AT THE SAME TIME, IT SIMPLY PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECONNECT WITH THENEIGHBORHOOD. THE PRIMARY REVITALIZATION WORK COMPLETED DURING THE YEAR WAS THE REPAIR, REJUVENATION,AND REPAINTING OF THE MASONIC BUILDING, ONE OF THE FOUR PROPERTIES IN BANDON INCLUDED ONTHE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. RESOURCES FOR THIS PROJECT CAME FROM THEOREGON STATE PARKS GRANT FOR OREGON MAIN STREET REVITALIZATION, THE CITY OF BANDONSURBAN RENEWAL FUNDS, AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM GBA.THE GREATER BANDON ASSOCIATION ALSO SERVES AS THE FISCAL SPONSOR FOR NON-PROFIT ENTITIESTHAT SHARE OUR COMMUNITY BUILDING MISSION IN BANDON. EXAMPLES INCLUDE FRIENDS OFBANDON PARKS AND RECREATION, BANDONCARES AND BANDON INCLUSIVITY GROUP. THEACTIVITIES OF THESE GROUPS FURTHERED OUR OWN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORK.
