YAKIMA COUNTY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (YCDA) WORKS TO RECRUIT NEW BUSINESSES. OUR ASSOCIATION RESPONDED TO 26 REQUESTS FROM NEW BUSINESSES SEEKING INFORMATION ABOUT THE YAKIMA VALLEY AND HOSTED 4 OF THOSE BUSINESSES FOR SITE VISITS. YCDA ATTENDED 1 TRADESHOW AND MET 36 COMPANIES INTERESTED IN A YAKIMA COUNTY LOCATION.
YCDA SUPPORTS BUILDING LOCAL BUSINESSES AND PROVIDES WORKFORCE AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP. IN 2020, YCDA ADMINISTERED APPROXIMATELY $12 MILLION IN CARES ACT GRANTS TO 1,400 LOCAL BUSINESSES REPRESENTING OVER 6,000 JOBS. YCDA HELD POP-UP EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY AS WELL AS ONE-ON-ONE MEETINGS WITH BUSINESS OWNERS TO MAKE APPLYING FOR THESE FUNDS AS EASY AS POSSIBLE. THIS OUTREACH AND SUPPORT WERE AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. IN ADDITION, YCDA PERFORMED 150+ LOCAL COMPANY OUTREACH VISITS AND SUPPORTED 4 LOCAL BUSINESS EXPANSION PROJECTS. YCDA ORGANIZED OVER A DOZEN WEBINARS AND PRODUCED 34 COVID BUSINESS RESOURCES VIDEOS THAT RECEIVED 5,164 VIEWS.
YCDA HELPS THE YAKIMA VALLEY PREPARE FOR ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES BY ADVOCATING FOR AND DRIVING INVESTMENTS IN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE. IN 2020, THE ASSOCIATION ADMINISTERED $6 MILLION IN SIED FUNDING AND HELPED 3 MUNICIPALITIES SECURE DOLLARS FOR PUBLIC WORK PROJECTS THAT LED TO NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. THESE PROJECTS COLLECTIVELY SUPPORT 300 NEW JOBS AND $27 MILLION IN FUTURE PRIVATE INVESTMENT.
