IS A COMMUNITY VENTURE TO PROVIDE HORTICULTURAL AND ORGANIC AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS TO THE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF CARSON CITY, NV. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE THREEFOLD: (1)TO CONSTRUCT AND SUSTAINABLY OPERATE A GREENHOUSE FOR THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF HANGING FLOWER BASKETS FOR DOWNTOWN CORE OF CARSON CITY, (2) INTERFACE WITH F.I.S.H., KIDS IN TRANSITION, THE CULINARY DEPT. AT CARSON HIGH SCHOOL, AND OTHER NEED BASED ORGANIZATIONS BY GROWING ORGANIC VEGETABLES FOR THEIR PURPOSES, AND (3) AS AN EDUCATIONAL ENTITY THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS AND THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB TO LEARN TO GROW PRODUCE AND BRING THE CONCEPT OF HEALTHY NUTRITION HOME.

THE GREENHOUSE PROJECT (TGP) HAS BEEN SERVING THE CARSON CITY COMMUNITY SINCE 2010 WITH ITS MISSION OF "GROWING, GIVING AND TEACHING FOR A HEALTHIER, GREENER, SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY." TGP PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND FRESH PRODUCE TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN CARSON CITY WHO SERVE THE FOOD- INSECURE OF OUR COMMUNITY. SINCE FOOD PRODUCTION BEGAN, TGP HAS DONATED OVER 25,500 POUNDS OF FRESH, HEALTHY PRODUCE (AS OF 12/2022) TO EIGHT LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS THAT DIRECTLY AND PRIMARILY SERVE LOW- AND VERY-LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE CARSON CITY COMMUNITY. TGP ALSO CONTRIBUTES TO THE WORK-BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES OF THE MORE THAN 200 CARSON HIGH SCHOOL AGRICULTURAL STUDENTS THROUGH ON-SITE EDUCATION. ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS, LEARN ABOUT SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES BY HELPING WITH PLANTING AND NURTURING GREENHOUSE CROPS, INCLUDING THE PETUNIA SEEDLINGS USED FOR THE DOWNTOWN CORRIDOR HANGING FLOWER BASKET BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT.
