PROMOTES AND ADVANCES HIGHWAY SAFETY AND A SAFE TRUCKING INDUSTRY THROUGH RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND PROMOTIONAL PROJECTS. FOSTERS EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS IN THE INDUSTRY.

ATAF PLANNED AND STAGED 20 SHARE THE ROAD SAFETY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS TO HIGH SCHOOLS, SAFETY FAIRS AND OTHER VENUES WITH APPROXIMATELY 8084 IN ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENTS. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAMS WAS TO TRAIN PARTICIPANTS ON HOW TO SAFELY SHARE THE ROAD WITH LARGE TRUCKS AND BUSES. ATAF AWARDED TEN SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING 15,000. ATAF CONTRACTED WITH SCHOLARSHIP MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO SCREEN APPLICANTS, VERIFY INFORMATION AND MAKE FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS. TEN DEPENDENTS OF TRUCKING INDUSTRY EMPLOYEES RECEIVED 1500 SCHOLARSHIPS. ATAFS SAFETY AWARDS PROGRAM RECOGNIZED COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO IMPROVED TRUCK SAFETY IN ARIZONA. CO-SPONSORS OF THE NON-CASH AWARDS WERE THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, PREPASS SAFETY ALLIANCE, AND TRANSTAR INSURANCE BROKERS. TRANSTAR INSURANCE ALSO PROVIDED A 1000 CASH AWARD TO THE ARIZONA DRIVER OF THE YEAR.
