IN 2021, VALLEY IN MOTION LED A COALITION OF REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP MAKE THE SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA AREA A BLUE ZONE, AN AREA OF EXCEPTIONAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS. VIM ENGAGED OVER 150 LOCAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS STAKEHOLDERS IN 35 FOCUS GROUPS IN A SITE ASSESSMENT THAT HELPED PRIVATE, GOVERNMENT, AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS DEFINE STEPS TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY WELL-BEING IN THE REGION. VIM COMPLETED THE CARBONDALE TRAILHEAD MURAL, A 75-FOOT MURAL TO ENGAGE RESIDENTS AND VISITORS OF CARBONDALE, PENNSYLVANIA WITH THE LACKAWANNA RIVER HERITAGE TRAIL. VIM ORGANIZED A TRANSPORTATION COMMUNITY DESIGN INITIATIVE, WORKING WITH ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS AT MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY TO DESIGN INNOVATIVE, TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED BUS SHELTERS FOR LACKAWANNA COUNTY.
