SUPPORT OF RWANDA GIRLS INITIATIVE NGO. THE SCHOOL IS AT MAXIMUM CAPACITY WITH 275 STUDENTS IN GRADES 10-12. THE CLASS OF 2020 GRADUATED IN 2021 DUE TO COVID SHUT DOWN, WITH OUR EIGHTH GRADUATION. WE CURRENTLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 95%+ OF OUR STUDENTS CONTINUE ON TO UNIVERSITY. THE SCHOOL IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE TOP, IF NOT THE TOP SCHOOL IN RWANDA AND IS SERVING AS A MODEL FOR THE COUNTRY. WE CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO EDUCATE THE WHOLE GIRL, OFFERING MANY EXTRACURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS DEBATE, CHOIR, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND YOGA TO NAME JUST A FEW. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A FULLY OPERATIONAL FARM WHICH IN ADDITION TO SUPPLYING THE SCHOOL WITH FRESH FRUITS, VEGETABLES, EGGS AND HONEY ALSO SERVES AS AN "OUTDOOR CLASSROOM" ALLOWING STUDENTS TO PURSUE RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURE, SCIENCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
THE HOWARD G. BUFFETT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS ARE EXPRESSLY PROVIDED TO SUPPORT A TOTAL OF 33 GASHORA STUDENTS IN 3 ENROLLMENT COHORTS FOR 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDY IN SCHOOLS OF AGRICULTURE IN APPROVED UNIVERSITIES WHICH CURRENTLY INCLUDE SOME IN THE USA. WHILE THE SCHOLARSHIPS DO NOT COVER 100% OF THE COSTS OF ATTENDANCE, EACH ONE IS SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE RECEIVING INSTITUTIONS TO "CLOSE THE GAP" USING THEIR OWN FINANCIAL AID DOLLARS. WE ADDITIONALLY, SUPPORT A FEW OTHER US SCHOLARSHIPS.
