TO SERVE AS A COLLECTIVE FRANCISCAN VOICE. INSPIRED BY THE GOSPEL OF JESUS, AND THE EXAMPLE OF SAINTS FRANCIS. WE SEEK TO TRANSFORM PUBLIC POLICY RELATED TO PEACE MAKING, CARE FOR CREATION, POVERTY, AND HUMAN RIGHTS. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH OUR ADVOCACY AND GRASSROOTS EFFORTS.

DEMOCRACY/VOTING RIGHTS - FAN CONDUCTED SEVERAL WELL-ATTENDED ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING OUR INTERFAITH PRAYER VIGIL ON THE EVE OF THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE JANUARY 6 INSURRECTION, HEALING THE WOUND, OUR RE-HUMANIZE THIS LENT PROCESS ON DE-HUMANIZING SPEECH AND POLITICAL VIOLENCE, AND OUR ELECTION EVE PRAYERS FOR GUIDANCE AND HARMONY ON THE EVE OF MIDTERM ELECTIONS. FAN ALSO PARTICIPATED ACTIVELY IN ADVOCACY COALITIONS TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE U.S. DEMOCRACY AND VOTING RIGHTS.


CLIMATE/ENVIRONMENT AND RACIAL JUSTICE - IN OUR 4-PART EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY SERIES CONFRONTING ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FRANCISCAN FEDERATION AND THE ORDER OF FRIARS MINOR-JPIC OFFICE. OTHER CLIMATE/ENVIRONMENT WORK INCLUDED OUR MOBILIZATION OF MORE THAN 60 FAN MEMBERS FOR THE ENCOUNTER FOR OUR COMMON HOME CAMPAIGN OF MEETINGS WITH U.S. SENATORS, ORGANIZED BY CATHOLIC CLIMATE COVENANT, OUR SCREENING/DISCUSSION OF THE FILM YOUTH V GOV, AS WELL AS PARTICIPATION IN MANY CLIMATE ACTIONS IN WASHINGTON DC. OTHER WORK ON RACIAL JUSTICE INCLUDED OUR MOBILIZATION OF MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE FOR THE POOR PEOPLES CAMPAIGN MORAL MARCH ON WASHINGTON IN JUNE 2022, INCLUDING CONDUCTING A PRAYER SERVICE AT A CATHOLIC CHURCH BEFORE THE MARCH.


MIGRATION/REFUGEES - FAN PARTICIPATED IN MANY ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS, FOR EXAMPLE THE HEAL NOT HARM CALL-IN DAYS FOR ASYLUM IN JULY. A STAFF MEMBER ALSO PARTICIPATED IN A FRANCISCAN BORDER PILGRIMAGE TO THE U.S./MEXICO BORDER, WHILE OTHER STAFF MEMBERS INVESTIGATED ROOT CAUSES IN EL SALVADOR AND HONDURAS, AND ALSO WELCOMED MIGRANTS BUSED FROM TEXAS AND ARIZONA.
