MONTOUR WOODS GREENWAY PROJECT ENCOMPASSES A 10-MILE TRAIL LOOP, INCLUDING TRAIL CONNECTIONS AMOUNG THE MONTOUR WOODS CONSERVATION AREA, MOON TOWNSHIP THE TROUT RUN CONSERVATION AREA, AND THE MONTOUR TRAIL. ONE MAJOR COMPONENT OF THIS GREENWAY PROJECT IS CONSTRUCTION OF THE TRAIL BRIDGE ACROSS MONTOUR RUN.
TRAIL SERVICES: HOLLOW OAK PARTNERS WITH GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND PRIVATE LANDOWNERS TO PLAN, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT TRAILS TO ENHANCE PUBLIC USE AND ENJOYMENT OF GREENSPACE IN THE GREATER PITTSBURGH AREA.
LAND STEWARDSHIP & ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: HOLLOW OAK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANNUAL MONITORING OF ITS CONSERVATION AREAS AND EASEMENTS AND PROVIDES STEWARDSHIP AND MAINTENANCE OF ITS PROPERTIES IN PERPETUITY, INCLUDING CONSTRUCTING AND MAINTAINING POINTS OF ACCESS, TRAILS, AND INFRASTRUCTURE, WITH THE HELP OF THE COMMUNITY AND CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS. HOLLOW OAK CONDUCTS EDUCATIONAL HIKES AND TRAIL RACES TO INTRODUCE THE PUBLIC TO OUR LOCAL GREENSPACES, INCREASE UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE NATURAL COMMUNITY WE LIVE IN, AND FOSTER A SENSE OF STEWARDSHIP FOR THESE IMPORTANT NATURAL RESOURCES.
