LANCASTER FARMLAND TRUST PRESERVES AND PROTECTS PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTURAL LAND; PROMOTES GOOD CONSERVATION PRACTICES THROUGH OUTREACH AND EDUCATION; AND SUPPORTS AND ENCOURAGES PUBLIC POLICY AND ACTIONS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO FARMLAND PRESERVATION AND GOOD STEWARDSHIP OF THE LAND. DURING THE CURRENT YEAR, LANCASTER FARMLAND TRUST PERMANENTLY PRESERVED 21 FARMS AND 1,703 ACRES OF THE MOST PRODUCTIVE, NON-IRRIGATED LAND IN THE UNITED STATES. IN ADDITION, THE TRUST WAS ABLE TO EDUCATE 840 FARMERS IN THE CURRENT YEAR THROUGH EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO INSTRUCT FARMERS IN BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES; EVENTS; AND INDIVIDUAL FARM VISITS TO PROMOTE GOOD PRACTICES AND ASSIST IN THE IMPLEMENTATION. THE TRUST ALSO PROVIDED EDUCATION AND OUTREACH TO MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS ABOUT POLICIES THAT SUPPORT PRESERVATION.
