PUBLIC RELATIONS - ACEC OF TN PROMOTED THE INTERESTS OF ENGINEERS THROUGH A PUBLIC RELATIONS PROGRAM DESIGNED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS ON ISSUES RELATED TO ENGINEERING BY DISTRIBUTION OF NEWS RELEASES ON ACTIVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION AND PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF 10 NEWSLETTERS; A MONTHLY ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER WAS ALSO DISTRIBUTED TO MEMBERS ON TIMELY TOPICS.
PROMOTION OF THE PRACTICE OF ENGINEERING - ACEC OF TN RECOGNIZED ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE IN A PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDED ENTRIES BY MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS. THE ENTRIES WERE JUDGED BY A PANEL OF INDEPENDENT JUDGES; RECOGNITION OF THE WINNERS WAS ANNOUNCED AT A BANQUET.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT WAS TO EDUCATE MEMBERS OF THE TN GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON THE IMPACT OF PROPOSED LEGISLATION ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE. IN ADDITION, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MONITORED AND LOBBIED THE STATE LEGISLATORS ON THESE ISSUES THROUGHOUT THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ALSO ATTENDED AND PARTICIPATED IN MEETINGS OF THE TENNESSEE STATE BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING EXAMINERS.
