THROUGH DIRECT LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND AMICUS BRIEFS, THE ACLU OF OHIO FOUNDATION'S LITIGATION PROGRAM HAS ADVOCATED FOR OHIOANS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS, AMONG OTHERS: VOTING RIGHTS; REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS; FREE SPEECH; CRIMINAL JUSTICE; LGBTQ RIGHTS; IMMIGRATION.
THE ACLU OF OHIO FOUNDATION EMPLOYS A VARIETY OF ADVOCACY AND EDUCATIONAL TOOLS TO PROMOTE CIVIL LIBERTIES AND RACIAL JUSTICE, INCLUDING COALITION-BUILDING AND COMMUNITY PARTNER COLLABORATION; SOCIAL AND TRADITIONAL MEDIA; COMMUNITY FORUMS; AN EXPANSIVE WEBSITE; A SPEAKER'S BUREAU; PRINT PUBLICATIONS; TABLING AND EXHIBITS. WE ALSO RESPOND TO HUNDREDS OF INFORMATION REQUESTS ANNUALLY. RECENT OUTREACH EFFORTS HAVE FOCUSED ON THE TOPICS OF MASS INCARCERATION AND BAIL REFORM; POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND VOTING RIGHTS; BIAS-FREE POLICING; NONDISCRIMINATION FOR LGBTQ CITIZENS; REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE; AND RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, AMONG OTHERS.
THE ACLU OF OHIO FOUNDATION PROVIDED GRANTS TO THE 12 MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS OF THE ACLU'S SOUTHERN COLLECTIVE. THE MISSION OF THE SOUTHERN COLLECTIVE IS TO EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES IN THE REGION, ROOTED IN THE SOUTH'S UNIQUE HISTORY OF RACIAL OPPRESSION AND VIOLENCE AND EQUALLY REMARKABLE HISTORY OF CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLES AND VICTORIES. THEY WILL STRIVE TO STRENGTHEN VOTING RIGHTS AND DEMOCRACY, ENSURE REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE IN BLACK AND BROWN COMMUNITIES, AND FIGHT FOR REPARATIONS.
