CLEAN ENERGY FUTUREEXAMPLES OF THE NRDC ACTION FUND'S FEDERAL ADVOCACY INCLUDE LOBBYING AND MEDIA CAMPAIGNS TO ADVOCATE FOR FEDERAL LEGISLATION THAT WOULD COMMIT THE UNITED STATES TO TRANSITIONING TO CLEAN ENERGY, AND FOR LEGISLATION THAT PRIORITIZED SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS. THE NRDC ACTION FUND ALSO ENGAGED IN ADVOCACY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ON THE STATE LEVEL, SUPPORTING PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS TO ADVANCE CLEAN ENERGY SOLUTIONS TO THE CLIMATE CRISIS.
SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIESTHE NRDC ACTION FUND SUPPORTED CAMPAIGNS TO ENACT LEADING EDGE CLIMATE-FRIENDLY TRANSPORTATION AND BUILDING POLICIES IN MUNICIPALITIES INCLUDING HONOLULU, SAN JOSE, COLUMBUS AND PORTLAND. WE ALSO ADVOCATED TO ELIMINATE DANGEROUS PESTICIDES IN A NUMBER OF STATES, INCLUDING NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA.
WILDLIFE AND WILDLANDSTHE NRDC ACTION FUND LOBBIED AGAINST LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS TO WEAKEN KEY NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS, INCLUDING THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT. THE ACTION FUND ALSO LOBBIED TO REVERSE LEGISLATION OPENING THE ARCTIC NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE TO OIL DRILLING, AND WORKED TO LAY THE GROUNDWORK FOR SIGNIFICANT POLICY REFORMS TO ADDRESS ILLEGAL FISHING AND RELATED LABOR ABUSES.
