THE SOCIETY HAS SERVED AS A PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE FOR PSYCHIATRISTS FOR OVER 70 YEARS, THROUGH ITS COMMITTEES AND CHAPTERS IN MARYLAND, VIRGINIA AND WASHINGTON, DC, SERVICES INCLUDE SPECIALIZED CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, A WEBSITE WITH EXTENSIVE INFORMATION OF VALUE TO THE PUBLIC AND TO MEMBERS, A DIGITAL MAGAZINE AND AN ELECTRONIC MONTHLY NEWSLETTER THAT GOES TO OVER 900 MEMBERS. THE SOCIETY ALSO HANDLES ETHICS COMPLAINTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ETHICAL GUIDELINES OF THE AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC SOCIETY. IN ADDITION, THE SOCIETY RECOGNIZES ACHIEVEMENTS IN SUPPORT OF PSYCHIATRY THROUGH ITS AWARDS PROGRAM.
