THE AMERICAN PHYSIOLOGICAL SOCIETY (SOCIETY) TYPICALLY CONDUCTS THREE SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS PER YEAR, ONE MEETING THAT IS HELD EACH SPRING IN CONJUNCTION WITH SEVERAL OTHER SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES AND TWO SMALLER SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES. MEETINGS ARE USUALLY HELD IN PERSON BUT, DUE TO COVID-19, ALL WERE HELD VIRTUALLY IN 2021. THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR THE CONFERENCES IS BETWEEN 15,000 AND 25,000, REPRESENTING MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY AND THE POPULATION OF SCIENTISTS INTERESTED IN SOME ASPECT OF THE SOCIETY'S CONFERENCES.THE SOCIETY PUBLISHES 14 SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS THAT SERVE AS THE VEHICLE FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF THE INVESTIGATOR'S RESEARCH. EACH MANUSCRIPT HAS AN AVERAGE OF THREE AUTHORS, REPRESENTING A POPULATION OF OVER 17,000 SCIENTISTS WHO BENEFIT FROM THE SOCIETY'S PUBLICATIONS. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE OVER 6,600 SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE 14 JOURNALS PUBLISHED BY THE SOCIETY. THE MAJORITY OF THE SUBSCRIBERS ARE LIBRARIES PROVIDING A LARGE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR THE JOURNALS.
