STAFF COMPLETED CONSERVATION EASEMENT SITE VISITSANSWERED QUESTIONS FROM POTENTIAL BUYERS OF PROPERTIES UNDER CONSERVATION EASEMENTSA 29-ACRE CONSERVATION EASEMENT IN TIOGA COUNTY WAS DONATED TO NPC. THE ACREAGE IS THE PORTION OF THE PROPERTY NOT INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY'S FARMLAND PRESERVATION PROGRAM. THE PROPERTY CONTAINS WATER RESOURCES AND ALSO INCLUDES A PORTION OF THE MID STATE TRAIL. A 64-ACRE CONSERVATION EASEMENT IN COLUMBIA COUNTY WAS DONATED TO NPC. THE PROPERTY IS VISIBLE TO THE PUBLIC FROM A PUBLIC ROAD AND NEARBY STATE GAME LANDS. ADDITIONAL THE PROPERTY CONTAINS SEVERAL WETLANDS AND IS UPSTREAM OF A PA FISH AND BOAT COMMISSION LAKE.NPC'S STAFF CONTINUED TO COORDINATE THE NORTHCENTRAL STREAM PARTNERSHIP. THE GROUP WORKED ON WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS. IN 2023 THE PROJECTS IMPACTED OVER 10,000 FEET OF STREAM. BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IMPLEMENTED INCLUDED STREAMBANK FENCING, STABILIZED CROSSINGS, RIPARIAN BUFFERS, AND IN-STREAM STRUCTURES TO STABILIZE ERODING STREAMBANKS. NPC PURCAHSED 2 PARCELS TOTALING 102 ACRES IN PLUNKETTS CREEK TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY. THE PROPERTIES ARE ADJACENT TO STATE GAME LANDS 134. NPC SOLD THE PROPERTIES TO THE PENNSYLVANIA GAME COMMISSIONI TO IMPROVE MANAGEMENT ACCESS TO ALL OF THE STATE GAME LANDS.SURVEYED THE 206 ACRES IN BLOSSBURG BOROUGH NPC OWNS. THE PROPERTY WAS PURCHASED TO SECURE ACCESS TO THE LARGEST SOURCE OF ABANDONED MINE DRAINAGE IN THE TIOGA RIVER WATERSHED. PLANS ARE UNDERWAY FOR AN ACTIVE TREATMENT PLANT THAT WILL RESTORE THE TIOGA RIVER. NPC'S PROPERTYIS KEY FOR BOTH ACCESS TO THE SOURCES OF IMPAIRMENT AND FOR INFRASTRUCTURE NECESSARY FOR THE TREATMENT AND CLEAN-UP.IN COOPERATION WITH PINE CREEK PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION AND THE TIADAGHTON STATE FORESTPURCHASED AND INSTALLED 2 BIKE REPAIR STATIONS ON THE PINE CREEK TRAIL.THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL COMMUNITY EVENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL AGE KIDS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
