THE ORGANIZATION IS ONE OF THE LARGEST PERFORMING ARTS ORGANIZATIONS IN THE PHILADELPHIA REGION. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2023, IT EMPLOYED 50 DANCERS IN THE COMPANY AND PRESENTED 6 LIVE PRODUCTIONS, INCLUDING 'THE NUTCRACKER'. AN ADDITIONAL 3 DANCERS WERE EMPLOYED THROUGH THE BALLET'S SECOND COMPANY, PBII. ITS REPERTOIRE INCLUDES BOTH CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY WORKS WHICH WERE PERFORMED TO AN AUDIENCE OF MORE THAN 85,000 REPRESENTING MORE THAN 20,300 HOUSEHOLDS, A 43% INCREASE ON FISCAL YEAR 2022. IN ADDITION, THE COMPANY TOURED TO NORFOLK, VIRGINIA AND PARTICIPATED IN OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS INCLUDING ORGAN DAY AT THE KIMMEL CENTER AND THE FOURTH ANNUAL SPRING FESTIVAL AT RED ROSE FARM. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PERFORMANCES PRESENTED (INCLUSIVE OF TOURING AND PERFORMANCES OUTSIDE OUR PERFORMANCE HOME)IN FY23 WAS 71.
THE SCHOOL OF PHILADELPHIA BALLET PROVIDES THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF BALLET TRAINING FOR ITS STUDENTS AND EXPOSES STUDENTS TO THE WORLD OF PROFESSIONAL DANCE THROUGH REGULAR INTERACTION WITH COMPANY MEMBERS AND ARTISTIC STAFF AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE COMPANY. IN FY23 THE SCHOOL REACHED 371 STUDENTS, A 44% INCREASE FROM FISCAL YEAR 2022.
IN 1996, PHILADELPHIA BALLET LAUNCHED ITS AWARD-WINNING COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, THESE PROGRAMS SERVED MORE THAN 20,000 PEOPLE ACROSS OUR REGION WITH A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES, 90% OF WHICH ARE OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE. THROUGH SCHOOL BASED, IN-THEATER PROGRAMMING, PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION AND PERFORMANCE, PHILADELPHIA BALLET PROVIDES RICH ACCESS TO DANCE CREATING A CONNECTION TO THE ARTS. PHILADELPHIA BALLET'S COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND PUBLIC PROGRAMMING COLLABORATES WITH SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE CITY, PROVIDING ACCESS TO DANCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS, CREATING A CONNECTION TO THE ARTS AS WELL AS DEVELOPING NEW SKILLS THROUGH A VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES.
