EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICE COORDINATION - PROVIDES COORDINATION OF SERVICES FOR CHILDREN, AGES 0-3 AND DEEMED ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES BY THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, DIVISION OF FAMILY SERVICES, THAT WILL ENHANCE THE FAMILIES ABILITY TO MEET THE DEVELOPMENTAL AND HEALTH RELATED NEEDS OF CHILDREN IDENTIFIED WITH DELAYS IN DEVELOPMENT OR DISABILITIES. THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES RESIDING IN MORRIS AND SUSSEX COUNTIES.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES - THE INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT AND SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES RESIDING IN MORRIS, SUSSEX AND WARREN COUNTIES THAT ENABLES THEM TO ACCESS BENEFITS FOR WHICH THEY MAY BE ELIGIBLE AND TO ACQUIRE THE NECESSARY FUNCTIONAL LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, SELF-ADVOCACY SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT READINESS SKILLS IN ORDER FOR THEM TO MAINTAIN THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND RESIDE IN THE COMMUNITY OF THEIR CHOOSING. THE CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY (CARES) ACT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW BY PRESIDENT TRUMP ON MARCH 27, 2020. THE CARES ACT PROVIDES SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS AUTHORIZED BY THE REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973, AS AMENDED BY THE WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT OF 2014. NJ CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING RECEIVED FEDERAL AND/OR STATE FUNDING TO PROVIDE A VAST ARRAY OF RESOURCES AND SERVICES TO HELP OLDER ADULTS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES STAY HEALTHY AND LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO ADDRESS THE INCREASED NEED FOR SERVICES, THE PURCHASE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) FOR STAFF AND CONSUMERS, AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO CONSUMERS FOR BASIC NEEDS, TECHNOLOGY, DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, HOUSING ASSISTANCE, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE AND/OR PERSONAL/RESPITE CARE SERVICES AND OTHER ESSENTIAL NEEDS.
DIVISION OF DEVELOPMENT DISABILITIES ("DDD") SUPPORT COORDINATION PROGRAM - THE SUPPORT PROGRAM PROVIDES COORDINATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN INDIVIDUALIZED PLAN DETAILING USE OF AN APPROVED BUDGET ASSESSED AND ALLOCATED BY THE NEW JERSEY DDD, THAT ENABLES INDIVIDUALS TO PURCHASE GOODS AND SERVICES NEEDED TO REMAIN IN THE COMMUNITY AND WORK TOWARDS A GOAL OF COMPETITIVE INTEGRATED EMPLOYMENT. THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS AGES 21 AND ABOVE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES RESIDING IN MORRIS, SUSSEX AND SOMERSET COUNTIES.
PRE EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES (PRE-ETS): PRE-ETS SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL STUDENTS AND YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES TO ENSURE THEY HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO RECEIVE TRAINING AND OTHER SERVICES NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE COMPETITIVE INTEGRATED EMPLOYMENT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE STUDENT HAS APPLIED FOR VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (VR) SERVICES. THE GOAL OF PRE-ETS IS TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH IDENTIFYING CAREER INTERESTS TO BE FURTHER EXPLORED THROUGH ADDITIONAL VR SERVICES IN THE FUTURE. EACH PRE-ETS COURSE FALLS UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE 5 COMPONENTS OF WIAO, WHICH INCLUDE: JOB EXPLORATION COUNSELING, WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCE, INSTRUCTION IN SELF-ADVOCACY, WORKPLACE READINESS AND COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE FOR POST-SECONDARY OPTIONS. A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS ARE COVERED IN THE COURSES, INCLUDING VOCATIONAL PLANNING, UNDERSTANDING EMPLOYEE BENEFITS, CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN THE WORKPLACE, TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION, ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AND MUCH MORE. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED VIA A COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM ENTITLED "STEP-UP OR VIA AN ALA CARTE MENU ON AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP BASIS. MORRIS COUNTY CARE MANAGEMENT: THE CARE MANAGEMENT/DISABILITIES PROGRAM, ISSUED THROUGH THE MORRIS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF AGING, DISABILITIES & COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING IS AVAILABLE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF MORRIS COUNTY AGED 18-60 WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, DISEASE, CHRONIC ILLNESS AS WELL AS INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH AND COGNITIVE FUNCTIONING CHALLENGES. THE PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO DEMONSTRATE AN INABILITY TO IDENTIFY, SECURE, AND RETAIN THE MULTIPLE SERVICES NECESSARY TO REMAIN IN THEIR COMMUNITY SETTING. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES CONSUMER CONNECTIONS TO OTHER PROVIDER AGENCIES FOR SUPPORT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: FINANCIAL BENEFIT PROGRAMS; NUTRITION PROGRAMS; EMPLOYMENT SERVICES; SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL NEEDS; HOME HEALTH CARE; PERSONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES; MONEY MANAGEMENT; CHORE SERVICES; DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SUPPLIERS; HOUSING; SOCIALIZATION; AND TRANSPORTATION. IDEALLY THROUGH THE PROVISION OF CARE MANAGEMENT (INCLUDING OPTIONS COUNSELING & INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE), CONSUMERS AND/OR THEIR CAREGIVERS ARE CONNECTED TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND SUPPORTS THAT ENABLE THEM TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES AND IN THE COMMUNITY WHILE STAVING OFF THE NEED FOR INSTITUTIONALIZATION OR OTHER FORMS OF DISPLACEMENT. RECREATION AND SOCIALIZATION: THE RECREATION PROGRAM, FUNDED IN PART BY THE MORRIS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, DIVISION OF AGING, DISABILITIES & COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING AND SUPPLEMENTED BY INDEPENDENT LIVING FUNDS PROVIDES INDIVIDUALS WITH ALL TYPES OF DISABILITIES, AGES 16 AND UP, WHO ARE OTHERWISE ISOLATED FROM THEIR COMMUNITY, WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH THEIR PEERS, AND ENGAGE IN SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES OF THEIR CHOOSING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
