THE FRIENDS OF THE MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM, INC. IS A NON-PROFIT, VOLUNTARY MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION FORMED UNDER THE PERTINENT STATUES OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS CORPORATION IS TO ASSIST THE MONMOUTH COUNTY BOARD OF RECREATION COMMISSIONERS, THE MONMOUTH COUNTY BOARD OF CHOSEN FREEHOLDERS, THE CITIZENS OF MONMOUTH COUNTY AND OTHER INTERESTED GROUPS IN MEETING THE OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES OF THE MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM. THIS INCLUDES RECREATIONAL, OPEN SPACE, HISTORICAL PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION, CULTURAL, HORTICULTURAL, AND EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES AND PROGRAMMING, SPECIFICALLY - TO INCREASE THE PARK SYSTEM'S VALUE THROUGH DONATION OF SERVICES, PROPERTY, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE, SCHOLARSHIPS AND COORDINATION OF VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES; - TO ENHANCE EXISTING RESOURCES THROUGH FUNDING AND MANAGEMENT FOR BEAUTIFICATION, RESTORATION AND LIMITED CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; - TO OPERATE, MANAGE AND MAINTAIN FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS; - TO

2022 SPECIAL PROJECTS AND DISTRIBUTIONS TIMOLAT FARM BARN RENOVATION 74,032 RENOVATIONS TO THE TIMOLAT BARN LOCATED ON THE TIMOLAT FARM IN HUBER WOODS PARK, MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP WERE COMPLETED THROUGH FRIENDS FUNDING PROVIDED BY A PRIVATE DONOR. HISTORIC PORTLAND PLACE 94,126 THANKS TO A DONATION FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE, THE FRIENDS WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE DESIGN, FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF EXHIBITS IN THE PORTLAND PLACE ORIENTATION EXHIBIT. THESE SHOW THE RICH HISTORY OF THE HARTSHORNE FAMILY AND HARTSHORNE WOODS PARK. ADDITIONAL FUNDING WAS ALSO PROVIDED FOR THE MANICURED GARDENS, PATIO FURNITURE AND TEAK BENCHES WHICH ALLOW VISITORS TO ABSORB THE BEAUTY AND TRANQUILITY OF THE GARDEN, LAWN, AND RIVER. MEMORIAL DONATIONS 41,260 THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS ARE HONORED TO ASSIST FAMILIES IN HONORING A LOVED ONES MEMORY THROUGH A DONATION OF A BENCH OR TREE. THESE DONATIONS ENHANCE THE BEAUTY OF THE PARKS IN A WAY THAT WAS SPECIAL TO THE DECEASED WHILE PROVIDING JOY AND COMFORT THE FAMILY. THIS IS A LOVELY WAY TO HONOR A MEMORY. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS & PROGRAMS FOR URBAN YOUTH 14,511 THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS PROVIDE RECREATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (RECASSIST) PROVIDES MUCH NEEDED SUPPORT FOR THE URBAN RECREATION DIVISION AND COMMUNITY RECREATION DIVISION FOR MONMOUTH COUNTYS UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES SUCH AS ASBURY PARK, NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NEPTUNE CITY, AND LONG BRANCH. ANNUAL FUNDING IS FURNISHED FOR SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS, DOOR-TO-DOOR TRANSPORTATION, AND PARK EXCURSIONS. IN ADDITION, THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS FUND AFTER SCHOOL EXCURSIONS, ORGANIZED GROUP EVENTS, HOLIDAY PARTIES AND PROGRAMS. PROCEEDS FROM OUR ANNUAL RECREATION ASSISTANCE APPEAL HELP SUPPORT THIS EFFORT. MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM NATURALISTS 4,330 THE FRIENDS SPONSORED A TEAM OF NATURALISTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORLD SERIES OF BIRDING HELD DURING SPRING MIGRATION. FUNDS RAISED FROM THIS EVENT PLUS ADDITIONAL FRIENDS FUNDING WAS USED TO REPLACE THE AGING PURPLE MARTIN HOUSES IN THOMPSON PARK AND DORBROOK RECREATION AREA. OTHER FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO CREATE A NATIVE HARDY SHADE POLLINATOR GARDEN IN HUBER WOODS. ENVIRONMENTAL CENTERS 2,885 THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS PROVIDED FUNDS TO UPGRADE THE NATURE ON THE MOVE MOBILE NATURE CENTER VANS SWITCH BOX POWER INLET. HISTORIC SERVICES 561 THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS PROVIDED FUNDING TO HISTORIC LONGSTREET FARM FOR PERIOD COSTUMES, NOTIONS AND FABRIC FOR CLOTHING AND DRAPERIES, LANTERNS AND HEIRLOOM TREES AND VEGETABLES. VOLUNTEERS AND TRAIL TEAMS 512 THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS ARE PROUD TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION FOR THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM. IN ADDITION TO SPONSORING THE NATIONAL TRAILS DAY LUNCHEON ON THE FIRST SATURDAY IN JUNE, THE FRIENDS PROVIDE DESSERT FOR THE ANNUAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION LUNCHEON. ADDITIONAL FUNDING IS PROVIDED FOR TRAIL TEAMS TOOLS, VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY REFRESHMENTS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS. SEMI-FORMAL FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES 369 EACH YEAR THE FRIENDS OF THE PARKS SPONSOR THE THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SEMI-FORMAL AT TATUM PARK, MIDDLETOWN. THIS SUPPORT INCLUDES REFRESHMENTS, ENTERTAINMENT AND GIFT BAGS FOR ALL ATTENDEES.
