RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES OF THE CAPITAL REGION (RMHC-CR) DRAWS ON THE COMPASSION OF OUR COMMUNITY TO DELIVER AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSELOCATED AT 139 S. LAKE AVENUE IN ALBANY, WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE BERNARD & MILLIE DUKER CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AT ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER, THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE PROVIDES A HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR FAMILIES FORCED TO TRAVEL A DISTANCE FOR THEIR CHILD TO RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE. COMPLETE WITH HOME-COOKED MEALS AND COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATIONS, THE HOUSE HELPS FAMILIES FACE THE BURDENS OF CHILDHOOD ILLNESS IN A LOVING, COMPASSIONATE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN REST AND RECHARGE WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEIR CHILD'S WELL-BEING. IN 2023, THE HOUSE WELCOMED 484 FAMILIES AND PROVIDED 4,521 OVERNIGHT STAYS. BREAKFAST AND DINNER WERE PROVIDED DAILY FOR GUEST FAMILIES ALL 365 DAYS OF THE YEAR.THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE HOUSE OPERATES 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK THANKS TO A LARGE GROUP OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS AND A SMALL TEAM OF PAID STAFF. ALL ACCOMMODATIONS AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE TO FAMILIES.


RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOMLOCATED WITHIN THE BERNARD & MILLIE DUKER CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AT ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER, THE RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM IS A WARM, INVITING SPACE, STAFFED BY VOLUNTEERS, THAT PROVIDES RESPITE, NOURISHMENT, AND SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES WITH HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN. PARENTS, SIBLINGS AND OTHER VISITORS CAN ENJOY THE COMFORTS OF THE FAMILY ROOM WHILE STAYING JUST STEPS AWAY FROM THEIR PEDIATRIC PATIENT'S BEDSIDE. IN 2023, THE RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM SERVED 997 UNIQUE FAMILIES, TOTALING 2,768 UNDUPLICATED, INDIVIDUAL VISITORS, AND HAD A TOTAL OF 5,259 VISITS IN ALL. 2,189 LUNCHES WERE SERVED FROM THE FAMILY ROOM THROUGH THE LOVE IS SERVED LUNCH PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, 103 FAMILIES UTILIZED THE OVERNIGHT SLEEP ROOMS IN THE FAMILY ROOM TO REMAIN NEAR THEIR CHILD OVERNIGHT.THE RMHC COMFORT CART EXTENDS THE SERVICES OF THE FAMILY ROOM, TRAVELING THROUGH EVERY PEDIATRIC UNIT IN THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO DELIVER COFFEE, HEALTHY SNACKS, GAMES, AND PERSONAL CARE ITEMS TO FAMILIES RIGHT AT THEIR CHILD'S BEDSIDE. THE COMFORT CART SERVED 4,248 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, ADULTS AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, IN 2023. ALL SERVICES OF THE RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM AND RMHC COMFORT CART ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO FAMILIES.


RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY RETREATTHE RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY RETREAT AT KRANTZ COTTAGE IN LAKE GEORGE, NY, PROVIDES A PEACEFUL, SUPPORTIVE SETTING WHERE FAMILIES EXPERIENCING SERIOUS CHILDHOOD ILLNESS CAN ENJOY BEING TOGETHER, MAKING LASTING MEMORIES. THE FAMILY RETREAT OPERATES YEAR-ROUND, ALLOWING FAMILIES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT CHILDHOOD MEDICAL TRAUMA, UP TO AND INCLUDING THE LOSS OF A CHILD, TO SPEND QUALITY TIME TOGETHER OUTSIDE OF A HOSPITAL SETTING.IN 2023, THE FAMILY RETREAT WELCOMED 38 FAMILIES, TOTALING 179 INDIVIDUAL GUESTS, 89 OF WHOM WERE CHILDREN. EACH FAMILY RECEIVED A FIVE-DAY STAY AT THE COTTAGE ALONG WITH GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR LOCAL ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS, AS WELL AS A $500 GIFT CARD TO COVER ADDITIONAL EXPENSES. ALL ACCOMMODATIONS, AMENITIES, AND GIFT CARDS/CERTIFICATES ARE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES AT NO CHARGE.
