GIRL SCOUTS HEART OF NEW JERSEY ("GSHNJ") PROVIDES NEARLY 12,000 GIRLS AN EXCEPTIONAL GIRL SCOUT EXPERIENCE THROUGHOUT ESSEX, HUDSON, HUNTERDON, SOMERSET, UNION, SOUTHERN WARREN, AND PARTS OF MIDDLESEX COUNTIES. GSHNJ BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF EVERY GIRL. WITH UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES, OUR GIRL SCOUTS EXPLORE, LEARN, SUCCEED AND TAKE ACTION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. GIRL SCOUTS ARE THE DREAMERS AND THE DOERS WHO "MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE."IN 2022, GSHNJ GIRL SCOUTS PERFORMED NEARLY 35,000 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN GSHNJ'S "HEARTS OF SERVICE" PROGRAM, BY EARNING A BRONZE, SILVER OR GOLD AWARD, AND BY PARTICIPATING IN GIRL-LED TROOP PROJECTS.

PRODUCT PROGRAM - THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE PRODUCT PROGRAM, GIRLS LEARN TO THINK LIKE ENTREPRENEURS, GAINING THE CONFIDENCE AND KNOW-HOW TO DREAM BIG AND DO BIGGER. PROCEEDS FROM THE PRODUCT PROGRAM REMAIN LOCAL, HELPING TO FUND TROOP ACTIVITIES THAT ALLOW GIRLS TO EXPLORE THE OTHER PILLARS OF THE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE, AND SUPPORT COUNCIL OPERATIONS NECESSARY TO DELIVER PROGRAMING AND MAINTAIN COUNCIL INFRASTRUCTURE. DURING THE 2022-2023 YEAR, 2,826 GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN THE FALL PRODUCT PROGRAM, AND 9,638 GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN THE COOKIE PROGRAM.
CAMP - GSHNJ OFFERS SUMMER CAMP THROUGH ITS TWO-DAY CAMPS (CAMP DEWITT IN HILLSBOROUGH, NJ AND THE OVAL IN MAPLEWOOD, NJ) AND ITS RESIDENCE CAMP (CAMP HOOVER IN MIDDLEVILLE, NJ). PARTICIPATING IN GIRL SCOUT CAMP IS A BELOVED TRADITION, AND A GREAT WAY FOR GIRLS TO EXPLORE LEADERSHIP, BUILD SKILLS, AND DEVELOP A DEEP APPRECIATION FOR NATURE. DURING THE 2022-2023 YEAR, GSHNJ DELIVERED 4,108 OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES, INCLUDING 1,330 SUMMER CAMP SESSIONS, TROOP CAMPING TRIPS, AND OTHER OUTDOOR-BASED PROGRAMS.
GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE - INCLUDES PARTICIPATION IN INDIVIDUAL AND TROOP ACTIVITIES, ATTENDING COUNCIL DEVELOPED AND DELIVERED PROGRAMS, EARNING BADGES, ENGAGING IN COMMUNITY SERVICE, TRAVELLING, AND PURSUING HIGH AWARDS. THE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE PREPARES GIRLS FOR A LIFETIME OF LEADERSHIP, SUCCESS, AND ADVENTURE IN A SAFE, NO-LIMITS PLACE DESIGNED FOR AND BY GIRLS. DURING THE 2022-2023 YEAR, GSHNJ DELIVERED THE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE TO 12,596 GIRLS. THE COUNCIL DELIVERED 15,388 PROGRAM SESSIONS, INCLUDING STEM, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND LIFE EXPERIENCES. ADDITIONALLY, 356 GIRLS EARNED HIGH AWARDS, INCLUDING: 35 GOLD AWARDS, 107 SILVER AWARDS, AND 214 BRONZE AWARDS.
