IN 2021, WESTERN SPIRITS NEWEST EXHIBITIONS INCLUDED: LIGHT AND LEGACY: THE ART AND TECHNIQUES OF EDWARD S. CURTIS; BEADED GAUNTLETS FROM THE WILLIAM P. HEALEY COLLECTION; THE ART OF OUR PHOTOGRAPHY, WITH ARIZONA HIGHWAYS MAGAZINE. THE MUSEUM PRODUCED A BIODRAMA BASED ON THE LIFE OF EDWARD CURTIS AND SPONSORED A SECOND BIODRAMA ABOUT WYATT EARP. WESTERN SPIRIT EXTENDED ITS MISSION AND VISION BEYOND THE REGION WITH NUMEROUS BROADCAST AND PUBLISHED FEATURES, INCREASED SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE, AND REVISIONS TO ITS WEBSITE TO ENCOURAGE GREATER ENGAGEMENT WHILE RETURNING DURING COVID-19 TO DOCENT-LED TOURS AND BOTH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS. THE MUSEUM HAS ALSO EMBARKED ON A YET TO BE RELEASED PODCAST SERIES. ADDITIONALLY, IN THIS YEAR OF THE CONTINUED PANDEMIC, THE MUSEUM HAS HOSTED ITS SECOND ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT, SADDLE UP II, RECEIVED A ONE-TIME MAJOR DONATION TO INITIATE A $5 MILLION OPERATING ENDOWMENT, AND IT HAS IMPLEMENTED A SUCCESSION PLAN FOR ITS FOUNDING DIRECTOR/CEO WITH THE APPOINTMENT OF AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. AGAIN IN 2021, THE INSTITUTION WAS SELECTED AS TRUE WESTS MAGAZINES BEST WESTERN MUSEUM IN THE NATION AND THIS REPUTATION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO BE EARNED IN YEARS AHEAD.
