INCREASE AND DIFFUSE KNOWLEDGE; ENCOURAGE THE APPRECIATION OF ART AND HISTORY; MAINTAIN A MUSEUM OR MUSEUMS TO EXHIBIT, COLLECT AND PRESERVE OBJECTS OF ARTISTIC AND HISTORIC INTEREST; AND PROVIDE FACILITIES FOR RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION.

IN 2023 WESTERN SPIRIT: SCOTTSDALES MUSEUM OF THE WEST OPENED 5 NEW EXHIBITS WHICH HIGHLIGHTED OUR MISSION STATEMENT OF ILLUMINATING THE PAST, TO BETTER SHAPE THE FUTURE WITH HIGHLY RATED EXHIBITS INCLUDING: WERNER SEGARRAS VACQUEROS DE LA CRUZ DEL DIABLO, ANDY WARHOL & BILLY SCHENK S WESTERN POP, RICHARD A. GATES GLITTERING ARRAY, BLAIR BUNTINGS JOURNEYS, NUERODIVERGENCE & BELONGING, AND WILLIAM MATTHEWS DECADES. THE MUSEUM WAS ALSO SO PROUD TO BE GIFTED OVER 2000 PIECES OF THE EDDIE BASHA ART COLLECTION FROM CHANDLER, AZ. WE WELCOMED OVER 43,000 GUESTS TO THE MUSEUM OVER THE YEAR AND 3900 OF THOSE TO THE MUSEUM FOR 35 SPECIAL EVENTS INCLUDING AN INDIGENOUS CULINARY FESTIVAL, SISTER CITIES SIGNING CEREMONY, LLOYD KIVA FASHION SHOW, AND THE HASH KNIFE PONY EXPRESS RIDE. WESTERN SPIRIT ALSO WELCOMED OVER 4000 STUDENTS FROM PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND HOME SCHOOLS TO ENJOY LEARNING ABOUT THE HERITAGE OF THE AMERICAN WEST.
