PROMOTION OF ARTS AND CULTURE OF YOUNG ARTISTS, INCLUDING ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL, NFFTY NATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR TALENTED YOUTH.

IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2021 WE LAUNCHED TWO MAJOR NEW PROGRAMS FOR NFFTY. THE FIRST WAS A PITCH COMPETITION, WHICH AWARDED GRANTS TO FILMMAKERS AFTER A COMPETITIVE PITCHING PROCESS. FROM OVER 60 ENTRANTS, FOUR FINALISTS (ALL WOMEN OF COLOR) WERE AWARDED CASH GRANTS FROM A TOTAL POOL OF $15,000. THE OTHER WAS THE NATIONAL YOUTH FILMMAKER SUMMIT, WHICH INCLUDED 10 SCREENINGS AND 16 EVENTS ACROSS A FIVE-WEEK PERIOD, SERVING OVER 600 LIVE, WITH HUNDREDS MORE WATCHING RECORDED SESSIONS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL. THE FOCUS OF THE SUMMIT WAS TO CENTER YOUNG CREATIVES AS THE EXPERTS, AND DOZENS OF NFFTY ALUMNI PRESENTED WORKSHOPS AND PANELS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE PRACTICAL AND ACTIONABLE ADVICE FOR EMERGING FILMMAKERS.
FINALLY, WE PRESENTED THE 3RD FILM CAREER DAY ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 6TH, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY OF SEATTLE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND OFFICE OF ARTS & CULTURE. IN OUR MOST ACCESSIBLE EDITION YET, WE OFFERED A HYBRID EVENT WITH A VIRTUAL OPTION AND TWO IN-PERSON LOCATIONS CLOSE TO PUBLIC TRANSIT. 84 YOUTH PARTICIPATED, INTERACTING WITH 62 INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS ATTENDING.
FROM JANUARY THROUGH DECEMBER, WE PUBLICLY PRODUCED A NUMBER OF VIRTUAL AND ONLINE PROGRAMS. THIS INCLUDED LAUNCHING TWO NEW VIDEO SERIES ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: NFFTY HOW (BEHIND THE SCENES TIPS FROM THE FILMMAKERS FEATURED IN OUR ONGOING FILM OF THE WEEK SERIES), AND NFFTY CONNECT (FILMMAKER-ON-FILMMAKER CONVERSATIONS ABOUT CRAFT AND THEMES EXPLORED IN EACH OTHER?S WORK). WITH THE COMBINED REACH OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS AND E-NEWSLETTER, WE ESTIMATE 30,000 SERVED THROUGH OUR VIDEO AND PODCAST SERIES.
