Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
EPEAT PROGRAM: GEC MANAGES EPEAT, THE LEADING GLOBAL ECOLABEL FOR THE IT SECTOR. THE EPEAT PROGRAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION OF MANUFACTURERS' CLAIMS AGAINST EPEAT CRITERIA AND OVERSEES A NETWORK OF CONFORMITY ASSURANCE BODIES (CABS) TO ENSURE THE INTEGRITY OF THE EPEAT LABEL. THE EPEAT ONLINE REGISTRY LISTS THOSE PRODUCTS, FROM A BROAD RANGE OF MANUFACTURERS, THAT MEET THE EPEAT LIFE-CYCLE SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA. THOUSANDS OF PRIVATE AND PUBLIC INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASERS AROUND THE WORLD USE EPEAT AS PART OF THEIR SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT PROGRAMS.
STANDARDS MANAGEMENT: GEC PROVIDES MANAGEMENT SUPPORT OF BALANCED VOLUNTARY CONSENSUS PROCESSES TO DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN THE LIFE-CYCLE SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA UPON WHICH THE EPEAT ECOLABEL IS BASED. THESE PROCESSES ARE OPEN AND TRANSPARENT FOR ALL INTERESTED STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDE A BALANCE OF INTERESTED AND AFFECTED TYPES OF STAKEHOLDERS, AND UTILIZE PROCEDURES TO PREVENT DOMINANCE BY ANY INTEREST, INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION. GEC PROVIDES PARTICIPANT OUTREACH, RESEARCH AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT FOR EACH EPEAT CRITERIA AND STANDARD DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE PROCESS.
EPEAT PURCHASER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: GEC ACTS AS THE FULCRUM POINT BETWEEN THOSE WHO BUY (INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASERS) AND THOSE WHO MAKE (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BRANDS). WE UNDERSTAND THAT BY DECIDING TO BUY SUSTAINABLE IT PRODUCTS, INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASERS CAN REALLY "MOVE THE NEEDLE" TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE WORLD. GEC IS PROUD TO SUPPORT INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASERS IN THEIR IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT AND ALONG WITH OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM EPEAT, WE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO ASSIST INSTITUTIONAL PURCHASERS IN BUYING SUSTAINABLE IT PRODUCTS. THIS INCLUDES THE GEC PURCHASERS GUIDE SERIES, INDIVIDUAL GUIDANCE DOCUMENTS THAT EXPLAIN HOW TO ADDRESS SUSTAINABILITY CONCEPTS LIKE CIRCULAR ECONOMY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS OR LABOR & HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE PROCUREMENT PROCESS WHILE STILL ACHIEVING A SUCCESSFUL PROCUREMENT; DIRECTIONS ON HOW PURCHASERS CAN GAIN CREDIT FOR THEIR SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT ACTIVITIES WHEN REPORTING TO ENTITIES SUCH AS GRI AND CDP; AND WEBINARS THAT EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT APPROACHES.
