THE CENTER FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE RESOURCE SERVICE CENTER IS A NONPROFIT PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATION WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT AND RESOURCES FOR NEW AND ASPIRING TEACHERS AND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, ALTERNATIVE ROUTES TO TEACHING LICENSURE. CTE ALSO PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS.

THE CENTER FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE (CTE) RESOURCE SERVICE CENTER PROVIDED THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STARBASE PROGRAM WITH THREE CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS AND AN ADMINISTRATIVE EMPLOYEE TO OPERATE THAT PROGRAM AT NELLIS AIRFORCE BASE. THE STARBASE PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1994 TO RAISE INTEREST AND IMPROVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF AT-RISK YOUTH IN STEM BY EXPOSING THEM TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT AND POSITIVE ROLE MODELS FOUND ON MILITARY INSTALLATIONS.
CTE PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS TO TEACHERS FOR CONTUNING EDUCATION AND CLASSROOM AND LEARNING SUPPLIES (BOOKS, LEARNING AIDS, GENERAL SUPPLIES, FURNITURE ETC.)
THE CENTER FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE (CTE) RESOURCE SERVICE CENTER OFFERED CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT A REDUCED RATE TO APPROXIMATLEY 0 CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT (CCSD) CERTIFIED EMPLOYEES. CTE NEGOTIATES LOWER TUITION FEES WITH HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS WHILE WORKING WITH CCSD TO ENSURE THAT PROGRAM CONTENT SATISFIES CCSD REQUIREMENTS. THIS PROGRAM HAS CURRENTLY BEEN DISCONTINUED HOWEVER MAY BE REINSTATED IN THE FUTURE AT THE BOARDS DISCRETION.
