OUR MISSION IS TO FOSTER THE EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF DESIGN, ART, AND ARCHITECTURE. UNDER THE INSTITUTE UMBRELLA WE OPERATE TWO PROGRAMS TO SERVE OUR MISSION: THE WARNECKE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES AND THE CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM. THE WARNECKE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES MAINTAINS THE COMPLETE ARCHIVES OF CARL I. WARNECKE AND JOHN CARL WARNECKE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING RESEARCHERS AND STUDENTS, PUBLIC AGENCIES AND OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THE CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM PROVIDES ARTISTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, AND MEDIUMS, WITH TIME AND SPACE FOR REFLECTIVE WORK IN A NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND TO PRESERVE THE LANDSCAPE IN WHICH THE INSTITUTE IS FOUNDED.

CHALK HILL RESIDENCY IS PROUD TO COLLABORATE WITH CREATIVE INSTITUTIONS AND COMMUNITY NONPROFITS TO FULFILL OUR MISSION OF PROVIDING TIME AND SPACE AT WARNECKE RANCH AND VINEYARD WHERE ABLED AND DISABLED ARTISTS ARE VALUED, THRIVING, AND REPRESENT THE DIVERSE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE. OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY GROWTH, CREATIVITY EXPORED, NURTURING INDEPENDENCE THROUGH ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT (NIAD), AND BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC BRINGS TEACHERS FROM THESE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS TO SEPND A WEEK AT THE RESIDENCY TO WORK ON THEIR VARIOUS ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS. IN 2022 THERE WERE FIVE PARTNERSHIP TEACHING ARTISTS. CHALK HILL RESIDENCY PROGRAM - IN 2022 16 ARTISTS OUT OF 106 WERE SELECTED FOR RESIDENCY. THE SELECTION PROCESS INCLUDES THE COMMITTEE REVIEWING APPLICANT SUBMISSIONS FROM OUR ANNUAL CALL FOR ARTISTS AND SELECTS BASED ON QUALITY OF WORK, PROJECT PROPOSAL, AND RESUME. TOTAL ARTISTS SERVED:17 WOMEN ARTISTS4 MEN ARTISTS5 TEACHING ARTISTS (1 FROM EACH PARTNERING NON PROFIT: COMMUNITY GROWTH,CREATIVITY EXPLORED, & NIAD, 2 FROM BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC). PUBLIC PROGRAMING3 OPEN STUDIOS/POP-UP EXHIBITIONS IN 2022.3-8 RESIDENT ARTISTS PER OPEN STUDIO DISPLAY THEIR ARTWORK. 50-60 GUESTS ATTEND FROM OUR MAILING LIST.
