OUR MISSION IS TO FOSTER THE EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF DESIGN, ART, AND ARCHITECTURE. UNDER THE INSTITUTE UMBRELLA WE OPERATE TWO PROGRAMS TO SERVE OUR MISSION: THE WARNECKE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES AND THE CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM. THE WARNECKE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES MAINTAINS THE COMPLETE ARCHIVES OF CARL I. WARNECKE AND JOHN CARL WARNECKE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING RESEARCHERS AND STUDENTS, PUBLIC AGENCIES AND OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THE CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM PROVIDES ARTISTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, AND MEDIUMS, WITH TIME AND SPACE FOR REFLECTIVE WORK IN A NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND TO PRESERVE THE LANDSCAPE IN WHICH THE INSTITUTE IS FOUNDED.

EVERY YEAR WE PREPARE AN ANNUAL REPORT FOR OUR BOARD MEETING. HERE IS THE 2021 REPORT FOR WARNECKE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES AND THE CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY. BOTH PROGRAMS FURTHER THE WARNECKE INSTITUTE MISSION.2021 CHALK HILL ARTIST RESIDENCY ACCOMPLISHMENTS 13 ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE (DUE TO COVID, ONLY ONE AT A TIME, USUALLY MORE). 3 TEACHING ARTISTS FROM BAY AREA COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS 7 BAY AREA ARTISTS 10 WOMEN ARTISTS 2 BIPOC ARTISTS 5 PARTNERSHIP TEACHING ARTISTS (1 EACH FROM CG, CE, & NIAD, 2 FROM BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC) PUBLIC PROGRAMING 2 OPEN STUDIOS/POP-UP EXHIBITIONS THIS YEAR (USUALLY 4 ANNUALLY, BUT FEWER DUE TO COVID) 1 VIRTUAL PUBLIC PROGRAM WITH A RESIDENT ARTIST. 1 FILM SCREENING EVENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SF DANCE FILM FESTIVAL.
