STOREFRONT: ADAMS AVENUE INTEGRATIVE HEALTH IS A BRICK AND MORTAR WELLNESS CENTER IN SAN DIEGO, OPERATED BY ALTERNATIVE HEALING NETWORK, INC. THAT OFFERS ACUPUNCTURE, CHIROPRACTIC, MASSAGE, AND NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING ON A SLIDING SCALE TO MAKE WELLNESS CARE AFFORDABLE FOR ALL. ALL PROCEEDS PAST OPERATIONAL COSTS RAISE NECESSARY FUNDING FOR OUR FREE "INTEGRATIVE HEALTH NIGHT" CLINIC OFF-SITE PROGRAM. IN 2023, ADAMS AVE INTEGRATIVE HEALTH PROVIDED OVER 4,000 ACUPUNCTURE SESSIONS, 2,000 CHIROPRACTIC SESSIONS, 1,800 MASSAGES, AND ALMOST ALL OF THESE WERE BELOW MARKET RATE ON THE LOWER END OF A SLIDING SCALE. ADDITIONALLY, INSURANCE IS ACCEPTED FOR ACUPUNCTURE SERVICES INCLUDING MANY PLANS OFFERED BY MEDI-CAL (AFFORDABLE CARE ACT COVERAGE) AND MEDICARE.
FREE CLINIC: IN 2023, OUR FREE "INTEGRATIVE HEALTH NIGHTS" PROGRAM OPERATED FOR 4 HOURS EACH WEEK IN A LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTER OFF-SITE SPACE. THERE WE PROVIDED ALMOST 2,000 FREE HOLISTIC HEALTH SERVICES INCLUDING OVER 600 ACUPUNCTURE SESSIONS, 250 MASSAGES, 225 CHIROPRACTIC SESSIONS, AND OVER 425 NATUROPATHIC MEDICAL CONSULTS. WE PROVIDED WORKFORCE TRAINING FOR OVER 50 INDIVIDUAL STUDENT INTERNS FROM PACIFIC COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE, BASTYR UNIVERSITY, CRAWFORD HIGH SCHOOL AND OTHERS. WE EMPLOYED 2 PAID STAFF MEMBERS FOR THIS PROGRAM AND ABOUT A DOZEN VOLUNTEERS. THIS WAS OUR MOST PROLIFIC YEAR SINCE THE PANDEMIC AND WE HOPE TO BE RAMPING UP OUR OPERATIONS IN THE FUTURE TO GROW OUR PROGRAMS AND OUR CAPACITY TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY EVEN MORE.
EVENTS: OUR STOREFRONT WELLNESS CENTER LIES ON A BUSY STREET IN THE HEART OF A DISTRICT KNOWN FOR LIVE MUSIC COMMUNITY EVENTS. WE ARE ALONG THE FOOTPRINT OF THE ANNUAL ADAMS AVENUE STREET FAIR, ADAMS AVE UNPLUGGED, AND ART AROUND ADAMS (ON HIATUS SINCE PANDEMIC.) DURING EACH OF THESE LARGER EVENTS WE HOST AND CURATE A STAGE OF MUSIC IN OUR PARKING LOT AND OFFER TOURS AND SAMPLE SESSIONS WITH OUR PROVIDERS. WE FEEL MUSIC IS ONE OF THE GREATEST HEALING FORCES IN THIS WORLD AND LIKE COMBINING MUSIC WITH HEALING AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY. OUR ORGANIZATION BEGAN YEARS AGO WITH A HEALING ARTS FESTIVAL IN SAN DIEGO'S BALBOA PARK AND THESE MINI-FESTIVALS ALLOW US TO GO BACK TO OUR ROOTS IN THE COMMUNITY'S MUSIC SCENE. THIS YEAR WE BROUGHT 6 DIFFERENT ARTISTS TOGETHER FOR FREE LIVE PERFORMANCES WHILE PROMOTING OUR OTHER PROGRAMS AND OUTREACH EFFORTS TO HUNDREDS OF ATTENDEES AND GUESTS.
