THE MUSEUM INTERPRETS THE BROAD AND DEEP HISTORY OF CHITTENANGO LANDING: THE LAND, AIR, WATER AND PEOPLE BY ENGAGING THE PUBLIC THROUGH EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING WHILE PRESERVING AND INTERPRETING THE RE-CREATED 19TH CENTURY DRY DOCK COMPLEX.

DAILY OPERATION OF THE MUSEUM WITH FIRST-HAND INTERPRETATION, PAPER AND ELECTRONIC SELF-GUIDED TOURS, HANDS-ON DISPLAYS AND BOTH SMALL SCALE AND NEARLY FULL-SIZE MODELS FOR EXPLORATION. DOCENTS AND WORKING BLACKSMITHS ARE AVAILABLE FOR INTERPRETATION.
NYS RECOGNIZED STEM EDUCATION INCLUDING SITE TOURS AND FIELD TRIPS FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN REVEALING THE HISTORY, SCIENCE AND INNOVATION OF THE ERA, AND ENCOURAGING EXPLORATION FOR TODAY AND BEYOND. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES ARCHEOLOGY WITH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES AND FIRST HAND INTERPRETATION. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, THESE PROGRAMS WERE SIGNIFICANTLY CURTAILED IN 2021.
SPECIAL EVENTS, RELEVANT SPEAKERS AND PROGRAMS HIGHLIGHTING THE ERIE CANAL ERA AND ITS IMPACTS, PEOPLE AND CULTURE. PROMOTED THE RECREATIONAL USE OF THE CANAL VIA KAYAKS AND BICYCLES.
