TO OPERATE A MUSEUM OF MATHEMATICS, PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS, INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ABOUT MATHEMATICS TO ENHANCE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF MATHEMATICS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF MATHEMATICS IN EVERYDAY LIFE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

MUSEUM: MOMATH OPERATED A HANDS-ON MUSEUM FOCUSED ON MATHEMATICS AND FEATURING DOZENS OF INTERACTIVE AND ENGAGING EXHIBITS. THE MUSEUM FULLY RE-OPENED TO THE PUBLIC IN JULY 2021, AFTER A 15-MONTH CLOSURE DUE TO COVID. FAMILIES AND TOURISTS BEGAN RETURNING TO THE MUSEUM IN JULY 2021, WITH SCHOOL GROUPS FOLLOWING IN FALL 2021 AND NUMBERS INCREASING THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF FISCAL 2022.


COMMUNITY: MOMATH OPERATES A NUMBER OF PUBLIC PROGRAMS THAT SERVE THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING EXPERIENCES THAT HIGHLIGHT THE EVOLVING, CREATIVE, AND AESTHETIC NATURE OF MATHEMATICS. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO AIM TO SHOW THE MANY UNEXPECTED WAYS THAT MATH APPEARS IN THE WORLD AROUND US AND IMPACTS OUR EVERYDAY LIVES. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS INCLUDE A NUMBER OF MONTHLY PRESENTATIONS SERIES AND A VARIETY OF ONE-OFF PROGRAMS DIRECTED TOWARD PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS, BOTH IN PERSON AND ONLINE.


TRAVELING EXHIBITION: MATH MIDWAY 2 GO (MM2GO.ORG) IS A SPIN-OFF OF MOMATH'S ORGINAL MATH MIDWAY TRAVELING EXHIBITION. MM2GO CONTINUES TO VISIT SCHOOLS AND FESTIVALS, ILLUSTRATING A WIDE VARIETY OF MATHEMATICAL IDEAS AND PRINCIPLES. IT IS ALSO THE CENTRAL FOCUS OF THE NYC MATH FESTIVAL, WHICH MOMATH RUNS EACH YEAR IN LOWER MANHATTAN.
