PROMOTE JEWISH CHORAL MUSIC AS A VEHICLE TO INSPIRE JEWISH LIFE, CULTURE AND CONTINUITY.

WE CONTINUE TO RECOVER FROM THE PANDEMIC, RETURNING TO OUR YEARLY EVENTS. THE ANNUAL HAZAMIR FESTIVAL TOOK PLACE IN MARCH 2023. IT BROUGHT TOGETHER TEENS FROM THE US AND ISRAEL TO SING TOGETHER AND CULMINATED IN A CONCERT AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER. THE YEARLY NORTH AMERICAN JEWISH CHORAL FESTIVAL TOOK PLACE IN JULY 2023. IT BROUGHT TOGETHER LOVERS OF JEWISH CHORAL MUSIC TO LISTEN, LEARN AND PERFORM AS A CELEBRATION OF JEWISH CULTURE, ESPECIALLY JEWISH MUSIC. A SPECIAL MUSICAL MISSION TO CELEBRATE ISRAEL'S 75TH ANNIVERSARY TOOK PLACE IN AUGUST 2023. THE GOAL WAS TO PROVIDE SOMETHING NEW FOR THOSE WHO FREQUENTED ISRAEL, AS WELL AS A FUNDAMENTAL EXPERIENCE FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS. THE RESULTING TRIP RECEIVED UNANIMOUS APPROVAL FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS.


CHORAL EDUCATION THE ZAMIR CHORAL FOUNDATION, CREATED BY MATTHEW LAZAR, PROMOTES CHORAL MUSIC AS A VEHICLE TO INSPIRE JEWISH LIFE, CULTURE AND CONTINUITY. BUILDING ON THE SUCCESS OF THE ZAMIR CHORALE, THE FIRST MODERN HEBREW-SINGING CHOIR IN NORTH AMERICA, MR. LAZAR SOUGHT AN EXPANSIVE VISION THAT WENT BEYOND THE ACTIVITIES OF ANY SINGLE CHOIR - ONE THAT FOSTERED JEWISH IDENTITY ACROSS GENERATIONAL AND DENOMINATIONAL LINES. TODAY, THE ZAMIR CHORAL FOUNDATION IS AT THE CENTER OF A GROWING MOVEMENT THAT PRESERVES AND FOSTERS JEWISH IDENTITY THROUGH JEWISH CHORAL MUSIC.
