AID FOR AIDS INTERNATIONAL, INC. (AFA)IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS (PLWHAS)IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AND WHO ARE IMMIGRANTS TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. WE WORK TO EMPOWER PLWHAS, THEIR CAREGIVERS, AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE BY PROVIDING ACCESS

AID FOR AIDS INTERNATIONAL REDISTRIBUTED 7,223 ARV MEDICATION TO PEOPLE WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE ACCESS TO TREATMENT IN LOW AND MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRIES, RECYCLING OVER $9 MILLION WORTH OF MEDICATION. IN COLOMBIA, 14,400 MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WERE REACHED WITH HIV PREVENTION AND DELIVERY OF PREVENTIVE KITS. TREATMENT WAS PROVIDED TO 826 MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WITH HIV IN IRREGULAR MIGRATORY SITUATIONS AND A SUBSIDY WAS MADE FOR PERFORMANCE OF 255 CD4 AND 310 VIRAL LOAD TESTS. IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, 1,715 SERVICES WERE PROVIDED WITH SUPPORT PSYCHOLOGICAL SESSIONS, HOME VISITS, COUNSELING FOR HIV AND ADHERENCE. IN ADDITION, 183 CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS PARTICIPATED IN WORKSHOPS ON ADHERENCE AND OTHER TOPICS RELATED TO HEALTH, INCLUDING STRENGTHENING SELF-ESTEEM. 1,710 FOOD AID WERE DISTRIBUTED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. MORE THAN 16,464 HIV TESTS WERE PERFORMED TO MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN. MORE THAN 250 PEOPLE WERE INCLUDED IN THE HEALTH SERVICES. IN PANAMA, 202 PEOPLE WERE TREATED, OF WHICH 122 ARE PEOPLE WITH HIV AND 80 ARE PEOPLE WITHOUT HIV, RELATIVES AND SIGNIFICANT ADULTS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS. 356 BOTTLES OF ANTIRETROVIRAL DRUGS WERE DONATED AND THE PROGRAM "HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW?" IMPACTED 715 PEOPLE AMONG CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, YOUTH, AND ADULTS IN PANAMA. IN PERU, MEDICINES WERE PROVIDED FOR 19 BENEFICIARIES, DELIVERING 86 ART IN VENEZUELA, MONTHLY ANTIRETROVIRAL TREATMENTS WERE DELIVERED TO 109 BENEFICIARIES, WITH A TOTAL OF 1,441 BOTTLES OF ANTIRETROVIRAL MEDICINE. PROPHYLACTIC DRUGS FOR AND OTHER ILLNESSES WERE ALSO DELIVERED TO 2,392 PEOPLE. INFANT FORMULA WAS DELIVERED TO 530 BABIES, BETWEEN 0 AND 12 MONTHS OF AGE, AND FOOD SUPPLEMENTS TO 105 BOYS AND GIRLS OF PRESCHOOL AGE AND FIRST GRADE OF BASIC EDUCATION, THROUGH A PILOT PROJECT.
AID FOR AIDS REACHED MORE THAN 200,000 PEOPLE WITH HIV PREVENTION AND EDUCATION INFORMATION; DID MORE THAN 20,000 HIV TESTS IDENTIFYING ALMOST ALMOST 1,000 PEOPLE WITH HIV AND LINKED THEM TO CARE; AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 300,0000 CONDOMS AND LUBRICANTS. WE ALSO DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 10,000 BOTTLES OF ARVS, BEING NEARLY $6 MILLION WORTH IN MEDICINES; AND PROVIDED HIV TREATMENT TO MORE THAN 2,300 PEOPLE IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN. AFA ALSO PROVIDED ADHERENCE TO TREATMENT COUNSELING AND PROVIDED INFORMATION ABOUT TREATMENTS TO OUR HIV BENEFICIARIES. WE ALSO PROVIDED MEDICAL SERVICES IN LATAM, ESPECIALLY IN COLOMBIA TO VENEZUELAN MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WHO WERE FORCED TO MIGRATE DUE TO THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS. LEGAL AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT WAS ALSO OFFERED, ESPECIALLY TO MIGRANTS IN COLOMBIA DOING SURVIVAL SEX. THROUGH OUR HIV CHILDREN'S PROGRAM IN DR AND PANAMA, WE DISTRIBUTED 1,000 KITS FOR HIV PREVENTION; AND, IN VENEZUELA, WE PROVIDED INFANT FORMULA FOR A YEAR TO ALMOST 1,100 BABIES BETWEEN 0 AND 12 MONTHS.
