HOUSING WORKS HEALTH SERVICES III OPERATES A FACILITY THAT PROVIDES A BROAD RANGE OF HEALTH SERVICES TO PERSONS LIVING WITH AIDS OR HIV-RELATED ILLNESSES. THE FACILITY IS LOCATED AT 2626 PITKIN AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING A WEALTH OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES, HOUSING WORKS HEALTH SERVICES III PROMOTES AND CARRIES ON CERTAIN RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO PROVIDING CARE TO THE SICK, INJURED AND DISABLED. HOUSING WORKS HEALTH SERVICES III ("HWS3") PARTICIPATES IN THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL PROGRAM REQUIRING DRUG MANUFACTURERS TO PROVIDE OUTPATIENT DRUGS TO ELIGIBLE HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS AT SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED PRICES. THE INTENT OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ALLOW ENTITIES TO STRETCH FEDERAL RESOURCES, REACHING MORE ELIGIBLE PATIENTS AND PROVIDING MORE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO THEM. HWS3 HAS CONTRACTED WITH COMMUNITY PHARMACIES TO ADMINISTER THESE SERVICES TO THEIR PATIENTS FOR A FEE. THESE CONTRACTS AUTHORIZE THE PHARMACY TO BILL MEDICAID, MEDICARE AND THIRD-PARTY INSURANCE REMITTING THE COLLECTED FUNDS LESS THEIR FEES TO HWS3. THE PHARMACY FEES COVER THE COST OF DRUGS AND ADMINISTRATIVE FEES, AND ALLOW THE PHARMACY TO PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM THE DRUG WHOLESALERS THE DRUGS WHICH REPLENISH THEIR STOCK.
