THE STATED PURPOSE OF THE AGENCY IS TO SPONSOR COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH ON HIV/AIDS. THE GOALS ARE TO PROMOTE THE RAPID STUDY AND APPROVAL OF NEW THERAPIES FOR HIV; IMPROVE ACCESS TO EXPERIMENTAL TREATMENTS; STUDY NEW WAYS TO KEEP PEOPLE WITH HIV AS HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE; AND TO BRING TOGETHER DIVERSE COMMUNITIES, INCLUDING PEOPLE WITH HIV, RESEARCHERS, ACTIVISTS, HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, AND INTERESTED ORGANIZATIONS.

INFECTIOUS DISEASE DRUG REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM (IDDAP): THE AGENCY ADMINISTERS THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS INFECTIOUS DISEASE DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVING LIFE-SAVING MEDICATIONS, PRESCRIPTION CO-PAYMENTS, AND HEALTH INSURANCE TO ELIGIBLE MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENTS WHO ARE OTHERWISE UNABLE TO OBTAIN THESE LIFESAVING DRUGS OR HEALTH INSURANCE.
EDUCATION: THE AGENCY PROVIDES EDUCATION, SKILL-BUILDING AND CLINICAL MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO ADDRESS EFFECTIVE COUNSELING, DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND CARE MANAGEMENT OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS.
COMMUNITY BASED RESEARCH: THE AGENCY PROVIDES CLINICAL TRIAL PARTICIPANTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEST NEW MEDICATIONS AND TREATMENT STRATEGIES WITH THE GOAL OF IDENTIFYING EASIER AND SAFER DRUG REGIMENS. THESE NEW REGIMENS HELP PATIENTS LIVE MORE PRODUCTIVE, COMFORTABLE AND HEALTHY LIVES.
