CAAAV WAS FOUNDED IN 1986 AS ONE OF THE FIRST GROUPS IN THE UNITED STATES TO RESPOND TO RACIALLY MOTIVATED VIOLENCE AGAINST ASIANS. SINCE THEN, CAAAV HAS BROADEN ITS FOCUS TO ADDRESS A WIDE ARRAY OF NEEDS AND CHALLENGES FACING THE ASIAN COMMUNITIES.

CHINATOWN TENANT UNION - THE PROGRAM UNITES LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS OF MANHATTANS CHINATOWN TO COMBAT DISPLACEMENT CAUSED BY GENTRIFICATION AND FIGHTS FOR IMPROVING LIVING CONDITIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF LANDLORDS.


NYCHA ORGANIZING PROJECT - THIS PROGRAM UNITES PUBLIC HOUSING RESIDENTS IN LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS TO FIGHT FOR IMPROVED CONDITIONS, NYCHA ACCOUNTABILITY, LANGUAGE ACCESS AND COMMUNITY-LED PLANNING.


ASIAN YOUTH IN ACTION - THE PROGRAM AIMS TO DEVELOP YOUNG LEADERS WHO ENGAGE THEIR COMMUNITIES FOR SOCIAL CHANGES. CAAAV ORGANIZES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AGES 14 - 21 TO WORK TOWARD ITS MISSION OF BUILDING POWER AMOUNT LOW-INCOME ASIAN IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES IN NEW YORK CITY.
