THE PHD PROJECT'S MISSION IS TO "INCREASE THE DIVERSITY OF CORPORATE AMERICA BY INCREASING THE DIVERSITY OF BUSINESS SCHOOL FACULTY." THE ORGANIZATION ATTRACTS BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICANS, LATINX/HISPANIC AMERICANS AND NATIVE AMERICANS TO BUSINESS PHD PROGRAMS AND PROVIDES A NETWORK OF PEER SUPPORT ON THEIR JOURNEY TO BECOMING PROFESSORS.

THE PHD PROJECT IS A SYSTEMIC DIVERSITY INITIATIVE THAT ENCOURAGES BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICANS, LATINX/HISPANIC AMERICANS, AND NATIVE AMERICANS TO PURSUE PHD'S IN BUSINESS, CREATING ROLE MODELS AND MENTORS THAT ATTRACT AND ENCOURAGE MINORITY BUSINESS STUDENTS RESULTING IN A MORE DIVERSE TALENT POOL. WE HOST AN ANNUAL, INVITATION-ONLY CONFERENCE FOR MINORITY PROFESSIONALS CONSIDERING BUSINESS DOCTORAL STUDIES AND COVER ALL EXPENSES FOR THEM TO ATTEND. 398 MINORITY PROFESSIONALS APPLIED FOR THE PHD PROJECT 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE, 338 WERE INVITED AND 307 ATTENDED. DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, 39 NEW MINORITY DOCTORAL STUDENTS BEGAN THEIR PROGRAMS. WE HOST FIVE DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC CONFERENCES FOR CURRENT MINORITY DOCTORAL STUDENTS PROVIDING A NETWORK OF RESOURCES TO ENSURE THEIR SUCCESS AND COVER ALL EXPENSES FOR THEM TO ATTEND OUR CONFERENCE AS WELL AS THE RELATED PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE, FY2021 DOCTORAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION (DSA) CONFERENCE, FOR THAT DISCIPLINE. DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE HOSTED 198 MINORITY DOCTORAL STUDENTS AT THESE FIVE CONFERENCES AND CAPPED 30 NEW MINORITY FACULTY. PROJECT AHEAD, AN INITIATIVE TO DIVERSITY HIGHER ED ADMINISTRATION, HELD SESSIONS AT THE PHD PROJECT DSA CONFERENCES ENCOURAGING SEASONED FACULTY TO EXPLORE THIS CAREER PATH. THERE ARE CURRENTLY FEWER THAN 40 MINORITY DEANS AT NON-MINORITY SERVING BUSINESS SCHOOLS. DUE TO COVID, ALL FY'21 EVENTS WERE HELD VIRTUALLY.
