THE NEIGHBORHOOD AIR MONITORING INITIATIVE IS CREATING A NETWORK OF AIR QUALITY MONITORS GIVING REAL-TIME INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC. BY TRACKING THE PARTICULATE MATTER THROUGHOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD (11 INSTALLATIONS SO FAR), WE WILL LEARN MORE ABOUT THREATS TO OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WITH THIS DATA WE CAN ACT TO IMPROVE THE AIR THAT WE ALL BREATHE. ORGANIZED NORTH BROOKLYN BAG SWAP TO REDUCE THE USE OF SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BAGS AND ACCEPT DONATIONS OF REUSABLE BAGS FOR DISTRIBUTION. THE PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED NEARLY 3,000 BAGS TO NEIGHBORS IN NEED. DEVELOPED AN ACADEMIC AIR & HEALTH SURVEY THAT IDENTIFIED POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS WITH LOCAL AIR QUALITY AND HEALTH CONDITIONS OF RESIDENTS. MORE THAN 400 SURVEYS WERE SUBMITTED. DEVELOPED ESSENTIALLY OPEN MAP TO HELP RESIDENTS IDENTIFY BUSINESSES OPERATING DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE COVID-19 SHUTDOWN. THE MAP WAS VISITED MORE THAN 100,000 TIMES. ENGAGING RESIDENTS IN TO HELP COMPLETE THE CENSUS. OUTREACH EFFORTS HAD MORE THAN 1 MILLION TOUCHES.
