SEE SCHEDULE OSNOW FARM: THE NEW ENGLAND CRAFT PROGRAM IS NESTLED IN THE HILLS OF WESTERN MA. WE ARE ONE OF NINE RESIDENTIAL CRAFT SCHOOLS IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE ONLY ONE IN MASSACHUSETTS. SNOW FARM OFFERS 2, 3, 4, AND 5 DAY CLASSES MOSTLY FROM MAY THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER AND HAS EIGHT DIFFERENT STUDIOS: WOOD, CERAMICS, KILN/STAINED GLASS, PAINTING/DRAWING, METALS/JEWELRY, 3D, 2D, AND TEXTILES. GLASS BLOWING HAS BEEN RE-OPENED; IT WAS CLOSED IN 2020 DUE TO THE CLOSE TEAMWORK REQUIRED FOR THE WORK AND THE HIGH EXPENSE TO RUN THE STUDIO. YEAR 2023 OBSERVATIONS:2023 ALLOWED US TO HAVE FIRM OPERATIONAL FOOTING AGAIN WITH MINIMAL INSTRUCTOR CANCELATIONS DUE TO ILLNESS OR HEALTH RELATED ISSUES. OPENING DAY IN JANUARY 2023 SET A NEW RECORD FOR THE TOTAL DOLLAR AMOUNT OF REGISTRATIONS IN ONE DAY. THE SNOW FARM TEAM WORKS EXTREMELY WELL TOGETHER AND IS FULLY COMMITTED TO MAKING SURE OUR WORKSHOPS RUN SMOOTHLY. AS AN EXAMPLE, OUR STUDIO MANAGER, IS ON-SITE EVERY WEEKEND WE OFFER PROGRAMMING. THIS DRAMATICALLY INCREASES OUR LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE TO BOTH OUR STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS. THIS INFLUENCED THE HIGH NUMBER OF POSITIVE EVALUATIONS. THE NEW FORMAT OF STARTING EACH WORKSHOP WITH A WELCOME DINNER WAS WELL RECEIVED AND WE EVENTUALLY SMOOTHED OUT SOME OF THE BUMPS IN THE TECHNOLOGY AND SCHEDULE. THIS FORMAT CONTINUES IN 2024.SEPARATING OUR ONE-TIME REGISTRATION FEE OF $35 IN OUR PROFIT & LOSS STATEMENTS ALLOWED US TO CALCULATE THAT ABOUT 800 INDIVIDUALS TOOK AT LEAST ONE WORKSHOP IN 2023.BEHAVIOR HEALTH ISSUES IN STUDENTS (BOTH HIGH SCHOOL AND ADULT) GIVE US MORE ISSUES TO NAVIGATE DURING THE WORKSHOPS. THE CAMPUS AND STUDIOS HAVE NEVER BEEN SAFER OR LOOKED BETTER. STUDIO STAFF WORK TO ORGANIZE AND LABEL INVENTORY AND TOOLS DURING WINTER 2023 BROUGHT THE STUDIOS TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. CONTINUED INVESTMENTS IN ELECTRICAL WORK AND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT PUT US IN A PRO-ACTIVE RATHER THAN A RE-ACTIVE POSITION.DONOR JIM ROSENTHAL PLEDGED $25,000 TO BEGIN THE PLANNING FOR A NEW WELDING AND SMALL METALS STUDIOS. SNOW FARM ENGAGED THE ARCHITECTS, MEETINGHOUSE ARCHITECTS IN FLORENCE, MA TO WORK WITH A GROUP OF SNOW FARM STAKEHOLDERS TO PREPARE CONCEPTUAL DRAWINGS.SNOW FARM UTILIZED WINDGATE FOUNDATION GRANT AWARD TO CONVERT THE WELDING STUDIO INTO A NEW 3D STUDIO. AWARDED ON NOVEMBER 9, 2022, A $80,000 GRANT ENABLED SNOW FARM TO BRING THIS STUDIO UP TO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS WITH NEW ELECTRICAL WORK, NEW WINDOWS, ADDED HEATING, NEW WORKTABLES AND A CENTRAL WORK TABLE. THIS INVESTMENT ALLOWS SNOW FARM TO PROGRAM 3D WORKSHOPS FOR 2024. THE SECOND'S SALE WAS A SUCCESS AND HAD THE HIGHEST SALES ON RECORD. THIS FUNDRAISER CONTINUES TO BE A SIGNIFICANT FUNDRAISER FOR SNOW FARM. THOUGH IT IS QUITE A COMMITMENT, WE STILL OFFER OUR MANY PROGRAMS THAT ENCOURAGE ACCESSIBILITY SUCH AS OUR WORK STUDY PROGRAM, WORKSHOP ACCESS PROGRAM, HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS, AND DEI SCHOLARSHIPS. GRANTS AND GRANT REPORTS INCLUDE:MASS DEVELOPMENT AND MCC CULTURAL FACILITIES FUND. A FINAL REPORT WAS SUBMITTED TO THE MCC CULTURAL FACILITIES FUND FOR THE AWARDED $20,000 FOR A RETRO-ACTIVE GRANT FOR RENOVATING THE FLAMEWORKING STUDIO. THIS GRANT REQUIRES A 1 YEAR RESTING PERIOD AND SNOW FARM WILL BE ABLE TO SUBMIT AGAIN IN DECEMBER OF 2024.MASSACHUSETTS CULTURAL COUNCIL'S CULTURAL INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO GENERAL OPERATING GRANT WAS AWARDED IN OCTOBER IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,300.
