ADULT EDUCATION SERVICES:*LITERACY AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM (LAA): THIS PROGRAM OFFERS BEGINNER LEVELS OF INSTRUCTION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING, AND THREE LEVELS OF INSTRUCTION IN READING, WRITING, MATHEMATICS, SOCIAL STUDIES, SCIENCE, AND COMPUTER SKILLS. A CHIEF FOCUS OF THE PROGRAM IS BUILDING AND STRENGTHENING THE ACADEMIC FOUNDATION ON WHICH TO SCAFFOLD LEARNING FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER PATHWAYS OPPORTUNITIES.*COLLEGE AND CAREER PATHWAYS PROGRAM (CCP): THIS PROGRAM OFFERS INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED INSTRUCTION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING INCLUDING LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, WRITING, MATH, AND COMPUTER INSTRUCTION. IT ALSO PREPARES STUDENTS FOR GED/HISET (THE HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY) TESTING AND POSTSECONDARY PURSUITS.IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, THE CENTER SERVED 101 STUDENTS, 12 OF WHOM GRADUATED FROM THE PROGRAM; 2 OF THE 12 GRADUATES ARE NOW ENROLLED IN ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE) AND HISET. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, THE CENTER SERVED 103 STUDENTS, 61 OF WHOM GRADUATED FROM THE PROGRAM; 13 OF THE 61 GRADUATES ARE NOW ENROLLED IN ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE) AND HISET.*DISTANCE AND ONLINE LEARNING: THE CENTER IS THE HUB FOR AND A PARTNER IN ESOL DISTANCE AND ONLINE LEARNING IN MASSACHUSETTS. PARTICIPATION IN THIS SERVICE PROVIDES MANY WAYS TO BUILD LANGUAGE SKILLS: ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION, A WEEKLY CONVERSATION CLASS, AN ONLINE COMMUNITY WEBSITE AND BLOG, AND OTHER SUPPORTS TAILORED TO THE INDIVIDUAL. PARTICIPANTS SPEND A MINIMUM OF FIVE HOURS A WEEK ONLINE. UNDER THIS PROGRAM IN FISCAL YEARS 2021 AND 2020, THE CENTER SERVED 194 AND 92 STUDENTS, RESPECTIVELY.YOUTH EDUCATION SERVICES:THIS DEPARTMENT HAS TWO DISTINCT PROGRAMS, BOTH OF WHICH IMPLEMENT A CASE-MANAGEMENT MODEL SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THIS POPULATION.*HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (HSDP): THIS PROGRAM ENABLES STUDENTS WITH 10 HIGH-SCHOOL CREDITS TO COMPLETE THEIR STUDIES AND OBTAIN A CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA; THE OPTION OF DUAL-ENROLLMENT WITH BENJAMIN FRANKLIN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IS PARTICULARLY ATTRACTIVE FOR MANY STUDENTS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, THE CENTER SERVED 22 STUDENTS, 8 OF WHOM OBTAINED THEIR DIPLOMA. IN FISCAL YEAR 2019, THE CENTER SERVED 22 STUDENTS, 8 OF WHOM OBTAINED THEIR DIPLOMA.*HISET AND POSTSECONDARY PREPARATION (HPP): THIS PROGRAM, LAUNCHED IN JANUARY 2016, IS DESIGNED FOR BOSTON YOUTH WHO ARE 16 TO 24 YEARS OF AGE. HSDP AND HPP STUDENTS PARTICIPATE TOGETHER IN THE "COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPLORATION" COURSE ON FRIDAY MORNINGS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, THE CENTER SERVED 211 STUDENTS, 4 OF WHOM OBTAINED THE HISET. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020, THE CENTER SERVED 31 STUDENTS, 56 OF WHOM OBTAINED THE HISET.WORKFORCE READINESS AND CAREER PATHWAYS INITIATIVE: THE OVERALL GOAL OF THE INITIATIVE IS TO PROVIDE ALL THE CENTER'S STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY AT THE COLLEGE AND CAREER PATHWAYS LEVELS, WITH SUPERIOR JOB READINESS SKILLS, EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES, AND IN HOUSE TRAINING IN ITS FOUR TRACKS.TRACK 1: OFFICE SKILLS AND TECHNOLOGY LEVEL ONE, CAREER EXPLORATIONTRACK 2: OFFICE SKILLS AND TECHNOLOGY LEVEL TWO, BUSINESS LAB AND INTERNSHIPTRACK 3: INDIVIDUALIZED CAREER COACHINGTRACK 4: POST PLACEMENT/ALREADY EMPLOYED SERVICES.THE CENTER SERVED 333 AND 100 STUDENTS UNDER THIS PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEARS 2021 AND 2020, RESPECTIVELY.
